Somewhere far enough from the coast that I don't have to worry about Hurricanes but still has good fishing.

Looking at Lake Guntersville or something similar.

Talk about going from the frying pan to the farm to table. Bend is awesome.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for a couple years too.

Bend is a million times more rad than L.A.

There's a lot of CA that I think would be fantastic to live in, absent the OT's disdain. LA sure as hell doesn't place.

Pretty sure you found God's country, as it were, if those are your two long term experiences.

Can only choose from places I’ve visited…I love Seaside. I know the crowds suck and stuff but it’s a place that makes me happy and I just love the little town center. When I hit that lottery…

Have all the people saying northern Idaho Montana spent any time in the winter up there? I dont mean 4 days at a ski resort either. Grey, cold and really long are the winters up there. Yeah it is paradise for 3 months in the summer but you got 9 more months.

Lack of culture

Definitely a lack of culture in the areas where most people are moving…go east of Raleigh and you’ll find plenty of culture (same can be said about western NC)

Coeur d'Alene is northern Idaho and the coldest month of the year has average highs of 36 and lows of 26. The climate in different areas of those states can vary dramatically.

Same boat and moved to NC recently. It’s great but missing something I can’t put my finger on. I’ve met a few other folks from Louisiana here and they complain about lack of culture. I guess you get used to all the colorful personalities from back home.

Not sure where you moved into NC, but part of the culture here has been diluted by the huge influx of others from all the other states. We've got huge amounts of Steeler fans, browns fans, panther fans, Viking fans. And while I've just addressed it from the perspective of football, you get the idea. Small towns in North Carolina still have a lot of the culture that's been there for a hundred years.

Welcome!

Im going to blame the THC, but it took me way too long to figure out what Calis was.
