Places like Monterey/Carmel are heaven on earth. And there are thousands of places like that in California.

And its expensive...keeps the trash out.

Easy flight from MSY ATL;
Great weather;
Great people, laid back vibe very different from America;
English at least understood almost everywhere;
Easy access to Europe;
Beaches check, mountains check, night life check, hot fricking women check, good food check;
COL living is cheap
