I have friends that live in Bozeman, Montana. They live less than 10 minutes from Bridger Bowl so they can take half days at work and ski in the afternoon... It's crazy. They do a ton of hiking & mountain biking in the summers. They live the dream!
That's where I grew up. It's awesome, you are also close to Big Sky. The downfall is you're such a far drive from cool vacation spots. One thing I like about smaller states is how in less than half a day you can drive somewhere fun.

Chicago or New York City. More of a city kind of guy. And for some odd reason, I enjoy walking everywhere.
Driving sucks.

They move NYC away from the ocean?

I don't have a singular place in mind, but Austin, Burlington, Madison, and Minneapolis would be my top four.
ETA: didn't include Chicago since I already live here. Love it, though.

Lake Tahoe California side! Went last March and had a blast. Planning a trip to Colorado for later this year for a friends bachelor party. I really want to drive out to Telluride but we might not have time for all that.

Carolinas inland in the late winter

I'd like the Ozarks if I had 80+ acres.
I also like the Rockies in NM, and Idaho or Montana.

This is kind of a tough question. There are so many beautiful places I'm not quite sure which one to choose
