What was so bad about them? The beautiful country? The non dumbass drivers? The lack of any violent crime? The almost flawless infrastructure? The fresh and healthy food?

How in the year 2023 Americans still think they live in the best country on the planet is absurd. You can say you're just brainwashed into liking this way of living in the states, but it is by no means the greatest. People bitch about the long winter, but in Baton Rouge, it's not like the 8 month long summer is any better.

Sure there are some places in the US of A that aren't massive shitholes, but they are few and far in between. After driving/taking public transport in countries like Austria and Switzerland, I don't understand how you can come back to Louisiana and go "yeah this isn't 3rd world at all".

Hell we can't even buy raw milk here

unless they've had a cultural change they don't take kindly to yanks, in fact they used to be downright assholes, and you'd better know/learn French

Still are in the cities.

But Western Canada outside of Vancouver and Vancouver island is much different. I prefer those folks to the average American.

It feels that way when I compare my respective savings accounts

Switzerland is great if you're very affluent. Guess what, there are a bunch of places in the US that are as good/better if you're at that level of affluence.

Also, getting permanent residency in Switzerland is all but impossible for 99% of people.

I've got a really good opportunity(potentially,) to go over there on a three year contract, if it comes through I'm out of here, paid by a DoD contractor with a COLA and tax benefits

agree

The BC coast north of Vancouver itself is really awesome. Its as good or better than the Alaskan coast, just more developed and less glaciers. The sunshine coast is aptly named.

Denmark is the last country in that region that is not allowing the takeover.

Switzerland and Sweden are seeing increased crime rates as they fall further left.

Norway. More specifically any place off the beaten path on the west coast. Could just blend in and disappear out in the mountains. No more seeing how many people got shot the night before, car jackings, or drive bys.
