Better listen to or follow what you knew to be true but didn't want to hear or deal with at the time

Several things, but one would be talking to my grandparents more before they passed. I was too young to really grasp what they could have imparted in terms of family history/knowledge/etc.

Regrets, I've had a few, but then again too few to mention.

Listened to my old man when I first went to college and went to trade school instead. Told me that Plumbers make a lot of money, young me didn't want to deal with others peoples shite all day. I have a friend that's a plumber and he makes bank.

Listened to him when he told me to do 20 years in the Army. I did 4 and got the hell out. My boos is a retired vet and only works out of boredom.

However, though I didn't listen I would never have met my wife and have such an amazing kid. It's just taking me longer to get to where I want to be in life.

If you have regrets about anything right now, and could go back and change something, you would now just be sitting here with a different set of regrets and wishes.

But just to play along with the exercise, I would not have gotten married right out of college, and certainly not gotten married until I had established myself career-wise and financially. (And in all likelihood had never gotten married at all.)

Wouldn’t have done investment banking. Wouldn’t have dated my last ex-girlfriend either.
