I think one of the big issues is the limited amount of training they get especially ongoing training. Just compare the amount of training an enlisted kid gets in the military vs a police officer. Then compare the amount of training the military does compared to operational time.

I am not suggesting more militarization but police need more training especially ongoing.

She should never have been put in a situation where a mistake like this could happen. I think the perp carries more of the responsibility for the outcome.

Sure, if you wanted to be stupid and pretend like it’s just 2 instances.

So what's the percentage of bad cops out on the streets? I'm sure you don't know, but entertain me. What's the percentage?

When doctors break the law, do they get punished for it? Or does their profession shield them from negative consequences?

I'm sure they have malpractice insurance which could, possibly provide for legal defense. Not really much different from police.

The poster you were originally responding to said “I’m just doing my job” is not an excuse when you’re enforcing unconstitutional laws, and provided a picture of that happening. You questioned if that picture was from the United States. I gave 2 quick, recent examples that were definitely in the United States. The point being, it most definitely is happening here.

What part don’t you understand exactly?
I don't understand how you can attribute to whole the shitty actions of the few.

Look at your own demographic. Your own profession. I'm sure there are gobs of people who fit your descriptors who are sitting in prison right now for awful shite. That has no bearing on the kind of person you are, though.

Most cops I know have a college degree. Doesn't mean much today, but they certainly aren't uneducated.

For sure, and I'm positive that this isn't something seen across the board. But it's been trending that way for quite some time.

Maybe if the FOP allowed bad cops to be held accountable we wouldn’t get in half of this shite.

For as much as yall like to claim this being true, the silence from “the good ones” sure is deafening whenever it comes to ostracizing a cop that fricks up, whether in the line of duty or not.

The vast majority of police officers never offer an opinion on any of these shootings to the public. Most of the time the facts are never fully available.

And having held both, they’re not remotely close.

If a cop can’t discern the difference between the two then they shouldn’t be a cop.

FOP isn't a police union. They don't have that kid of power.

This has to be a troll attempt. Some mistakes just can't be made and this is one of them. The bending over backwards and mental gymnastics to defend a cop who made a mistake that you just can't make in that position is amazing.

bullshite.

They single handedly held up negotiations on a new contract here in Louisville so officers couldn’t be suspended because of “negotiations”.

They have a ton of power.

Each department is different. I will tell you that for the most part departments that are run by democrat politicians get a lot less training, equipment, pay and leadership than departments in republican areas. You also see a lot more of the screw ups in democrat cities

Bootlickers won't want to admit this but the police have earned a large degree of the current hate. Look online and you will find hundreds if not thousands of videos of cops violating rights.

A lot of that can be traced back to qualified immunity. Thank God states are starting to undo that bull shite.

How many cops were in that grouping that shite the beanbags? Because they’re all bad cops.

How many cops were involved in arresting the mccloskeys? Because they’re all bad cops.

A cop that sits back and allows other cops to do bad/wrong/illegal/unconstitutional things is a bad cop. Given the ridiculous protect our own stance that you and your profession have for each other, I’m perfectly comfortable saying more than 50% of cops are bad cops.

I'm sure they have malpractice insurance which could, possibly provide for legal defense. Not really much different from police.

So you equate the cops that got away with executing Daniel shaver while he was laying prone on the ground in a hotel hallway with malpractice insurance? If you had no interest in or weren’t capable of having an actual conversation about this you should’ve just said so.

quote:

don't understand how you can attribute to whole the shitty actions of the few.

When the whole has established decades of precedent for sitting back and doing nothing when the few commit shitty actions, it’s really easy.

The differences of course being I’m more than happy to say people that do awful shite in my demographic should be sitting in prison, while the people in your profession usually don’t have to sit in prison after they do awful shite.

Well...not all mistakes are the same.

Intending to tase someone and accidentally drawing the completely wrong weapon is inexcusable.

If the rumors are true...

It's not "maybe or maybe not". It's documented.

Burying your head in the sand about it solves nothing.

Hahaha good one. So you know which criminals are armed and unarmed just by looking at them?

Again, how dumb do you have to be to have this mentality and not see the benefit of hindsight?
