Gotcha. I was wondering why he stated that in the OP. The USN reactors are normally refueled every 25 years or so and ships/subs are retired at 50 years.

The point still stand, though: Submarine life sucks.

Nah. The have 25 or so expectancy on the USN reactors.

If the calculations (and actual) on what rod height it takes for the Reactors to become critical are getting up there, they know it's close to a refuel.
