I've never seen something so simple as the concept of wearing a mask stump the great minds of the OT like this. A mask is not 100% effective, but it does reduce the risks of the virus spreading. That much should be common sense.

ETA for reference: The Covid19 virus is about 120 nanometers in diameter. A fine filtering micron mask (which nobody is wearing) filters particles down to 1 micron (or micrometer). A micron is 1000 times smaller than a millimeter. A nanometer is 1000 times smaller than a micron. So a virus that is about 120 nm in diameter is like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. When it comes to masks.
Do masks help contain water droplets? Of course. But it's safe to say that millions upon millions of individual viruses are escaping your mask if you were to cough or sneeze. And anyone who walks through the area you just coughed or sneezed in WILL be inhaling virus regardless if they have a mask on or not.
