The stealth helos were a huge risk. They knew how the radar signature looked, the sound deadening worked, but they had no idea how the thing would fly haha. Talk about ballsy move for the already ballsiest pilots on earth

Aren't they considered tier 2 with a whole host of other groups, like force recon, marsoc, rangers, air force pararescue, etc?
Yes, but the Rangers and the Air Force also have tier 1 elements.

How’d you like to be the pilot who crashed your helicopter into a wall on the biggest mission of the 160ths history? That would suck I wonder if he ever lives that one down with his buddies.

Posting those videos earlier made the algorithm suggest more, and one video was one of the Seals (on Ryan's podcast I think) talking about how amazing that was, actually, and how it saved their lives the way he did it.

It's this simple. Bill MCRaven, a former ST6 and JSOC CDR made the decision as CDR SOCOM.

However if memory serves ST6 was chosen due to operational reasons having already rotated back and on rest/training cycle while CAG was operational somewhere else in the world.

This is what I remember hearing, as well.

Delta Force would be more akin to living in his compound as hired grounds keepers.

Shawn Ryan's Chris Van Sant interview is really interesting

Gonna have to give that a listen.

His interview with Tom Satterly was also great.

The title is "The Battle of Mogadishu", but Satterly goes into a little bit of detail about what selection is like, as well as their training.
