Mad Man Marcum

I wonder if he’s still stealing from power relay stations

The 2016 election would have been epic. Art would have been Alex Jones'd within the last few years.

As much as I loved listening to Art Bell, I always dreaded Richard C Hoagland and Ed Dames episodes. Both are full of crap.

Ed Dames

I still chuckle when I remember a caller owning that putz. The caller had paid him to find his missing brother. Dames took his money and ghosted him.

The caller kept saying, “I know you remember me, Ed. Are you gonna find my brother, Ed? Are you?”, and Art just stayed quiet and let him do it. Dames finally mumbled, “I guess not.”

His schtick got lame pretty quickly. There just isn't that much credible weird stuff to talk about.

The problem with Art was a lot of his callers were fake and he knew it. But it was entertaining and he was in the entertainment business.

I remember him making some predictions in 99 or so on things that would happen in the first decade of the 21st century.

The only prediction that I can remember from the show was that the jet stream would drop to ground level, wipe out all of the crops and top soil, and any survivors would be living below the Earth's surface.

I bought that radio that you "crank for 30 seconds and it plays for 30 minutes".

It wasn't a bad radio. Not sure how I would have made it through Y2K without it.
