Apparently, yes, there was a dog in the house. Was confirmed by police updates today.

There is not much talk about the boyfriend/girlfriend couple as far as when they arrived home or their phone usage timelines. My suspicion would be they were killed first before the others arrived back home and the killer was in their room when the others came home.

This makes a whole hell of a lot of sense. Killing 2 people, then hours later killing 2 more seems much more “doable” than butchering 4.
It would seem that stabbing someone to death would take a little time.

If its a student, someone likely knows them and their recent infatuation with a knife.

Edgelord, death-infatuated teens and young adults are a dime/dozen. Statistically, in a town with 8,400 undergraduates, with 4,200 being male, at least 42 of them are gonna be emotionally unstable young men who want to kill something.

The stats probably aren’t 50/50 considering more females go to college than males these days. I think it’s 60/40 now.

Even if I'm off by a factor of 2, I haven't even included the population of Pullman, just 7 miles down the road.

Why don't you let the police do their jobs. I think they know more about solving crime than a wanna be Columbo on the internet.

Boss Hogg mayors, small town cops, and campus cops are not capable of solving this. The federales are late to the scene due to the above.

Have they confirmed that the weapon wasn't found or are we just assuming because it hasn't been said?

I haven't seen that they said one way or the other. I have only been browsing this story until last night.

This case would be easy to solve if Mike Leach was still up there.

Maybe they should check recent book purchases.

I live very close to the area, but not in Moscow. One of the crazier parts, for me at least, is how no one is even really talking about it. I don’t expect people to be fearful, but it’s almost a “non-event”.

This doesn't make sense. I believe you, but I figure that this would be hot the hottest topic in town. People must at least have an idea that they're safe.

They know something we don't. The dead guy inside did it and I'm sticking to it!

Agree with your assertion on the local police.

The biggest danger caused by local police taking too long in figuring this out is that the killer could kill again before apprehension.

Look at BRPD’s botched search for Derrick Todd Lee: Denae Coloumb and Carrie Yoder would be alive today if DTL was caught sooner.

It seems also likely that the killer had a perch somewhere to the rear to case the house around 1:45 when the 4 came home and could see they had forgotten to lock the sliding door back.

He tied the knife handle to a helium balloon and it just floated away when he was finished.

Didn’t see this posted in past couple pages, but the latest update is the investigation is now looking into a possible link with the University ROTC Program & the use of the Rambo style knife.

Meh, they are grasping at straws trying to find where the knife came from. Anyone could have one and have just ordered it online.
