re: I'd like to see a study regarding covid-19 patients and the way they push a grocery cart

The last few times I've gone to the store I've noticed something that really stands out to me. Obese people and African Americans (two of the hardest-hit demographics) don't bother to hold the cart differently right now. They're all holding the carts with their hand firmly clasped around the handle. Younger folks and healthier-looking folks are pushing their carts like me - with a closed fist.
I think you're WAAAAY overthinking this. I grasp it like normal (after wiping it down). Why? Because when people use hand sanitizer (which I do at my car), they typically start with their palms/open-hand areas. When I have a "nose itch" I now instinctively use my forearm or shoulder to rub it, avoiding my open-hand areas since 99% of things we grab we do with those parts of our hands.

Question: do you pick up items off the shelf or produce section using fists or do you wrap your hand around those?
I put my hand in the veggie bag, grab what I want then flip it around veggie

Most of the gay couples I see push the carts like this

I have never seen anybody push a cart like this or even look to see. Hey OP, stop being such a busy body. Who the hell cares how people push a cart ?

i'm going to help out OP. For $20, he can be the best virtue signaling bitch in the store.

I wipe the cart handle
Hold it like always
Don’t touch my face
Don’t needlessly touch products in the store
Pay
Use hand sanitizer
Load car
Put up buggy
Use hand sanitizer
Get home & wash hands
I lick the cart handle as soon as I get there so I don't have to worry about all those other steps.

I’ve always done that, too. What about taking items off the shelf?

I just grab what I need
I don’t touch everything on the shelf & pick stuff up to look at it then put it back
I don’t wash anything once I get home except fruits & veggies
I don’t leave anything outside
I believe the chance of catching it from a box of cereal is incredibly slim
I am more concerned with the germs on the cart & payment pin pad than the products in the store

I hate to tell you this. But your entire hand is still touching the cart assclown

So you can’t grip it even if you clean the Whole rail handle including underneath? What’s the difference
Posted on 5/15/20 at 2:40 pm to TDsngumbo
I can bench my body weight using that same grip.

Fat people lean over the cart and push with their forearms.
Some just coast and let the gunt do all the work.

I really wonder if there's a correlation to confirmed infections and the way they hold the grocery cart handles
I think Stanford, Johns Hopkins and the other big guys are busy right now. This might a good one for SW Missouri or Beaver College to get their feet wet.

I'm really not sure what you accomplish by doing this. Just touch the things you're buying and sanitize at your car, wash at home. If you managed to avoid touching produce, but still had to touch your box of Oreos, you may have made a minuscule difference in your level of risk, but nothing to write home about.

I have so little patience and the grocery im usually leaning on the push bar with my whole forearm so people know im tired of them walking slow as shite.

I was just trying to see how much he avoided touching things at the store since he pushes his cart with closed fists.
