The church on the Notre Dame campus could pass for a European cathedral.

Vickers at SLU - the freakin staircases to the 3rd floor

My 2nd semester I had a class at white hall followed by a class on the third floor of d.Vick. I had 10 minutes to sprint across cAmpus then climb those flipping stairs. I’d get to class sweating my arse off and breathing heavy. My dumbass never scheduled two classes that far apart again.

The Duke Chapel is one of the most impressive campus "churches" in my view.

Belmont mansion(Belmont University) was owned by Adelicia Hayes, wife of Isaac Franklin, one of the richest antebellum southern traders in US history. They owned Fairvue plantation in my home county which is one of the most beautiful plantation homes imho.

This thread is terrific. Thanks for sharing.

Damn shame LSU did away with the glory holes in Middleton library. Truly awe inspiring.

Unfortunately, Vanderbilt University doesn’t have a home-run quality Icon building. However, the campus is overall pleasing and has the best location in the SEC other than future UT Austin.

I've always thought the Memorial Gymnasium was one of the wildest looking venues in college sports, though.

Tiger Stadium is pretty iconic mostly because of it's origin story.

It’s hilarious to me that people only associate LSU with football. As if there isn’t an entire campus full of buildings to choose from. Some people can’t understand how people that aren’t from Louisiana became LSU fans.

I don't understand what "because of its origin story" means.

Legislature would not pass a bill spending money on a football stadium for LSU. Huey P conjures up the idea to build a dormitory in the shape of a stadium and gets it passed in the legislature. Future additions were funded the same way as "educational support" and not spending on sports.

That's not "its origin story," though. It didn't ORIGINALLY have dorms. See here:

Those came about through its first addition, which extended the East and West sides upward and added them in. ETA, As you can see, that's also when it got lights.
