IBS and Crohns Desease

Hey guys
Went to a specialist today and he is doing a colonoscopy and scope on me next week to rule out or diagnose IBS, Crohns or any other issue.
Anyone currently have this?
I'm really scared about the procedure and the possibility of Crohns. He thinks it's IBS but wants to make sure.
Any help is appreciated

Sorry about your nervous tummy. Thoughts and prayers.

Scope is easy. Crohnes sucks. That is what he'll be looking for. IBS is a catch all diagnosis used when no other disease is obvious.
Try and schedule your scope add early as possible in the morning. And if the doc will give you prep-o-pik, instead of the 1/2 gallon bowel prep, take him up on it.

Is any of this life threatening? I'm really nervous now
My health is good I'm just a Type A, OCD worrier type and my stomach is always uneasy
I often have sudden urges to shite, especially when running or before a flight or speech.

Yes I know. Even dr said that, but also agreed it's not as easy to tell someone like that to change

I had a colonoscopy about 2 months ago. Keep the drink ice cold and you can mix it with clear gatorade if you want. It tastes bad...like very bad. You'll be fine the first few sips but the drink is very very heavy on your stomach and the last half will have you gagging I promise. After each sip suck on a lemon slice. The drink literally tastes like purple kool aid with and entire container of salt and whey protein powder in it. The sour lemon offsets the taste. Good luck brother lmao
And yes I think Crohns can be fatal. A young guy from Dutchtown high just passed away from the disease I believe, but other than him ive never heard of anyone having that kind of trouble. But you are taking the first steps in care so I wouldn't worry

Why are you so nervous? You understand you are in control of practically nothing, right? You could burst a blood vessel getting ready for the scope and die on the toilet.

I have Crohns. It's a bitch but can be managed with the right meds.
Sounds like you have IBS. With Crohns you're usually shitting all the time.
The colonoscopy is an easy procedure. The drugs they use to put you out are the bomb!
The hard part is the damn prep for it. Setup your computer in the bathroom because you're gonna be riding the porcelain pony all night!

Yeah, the prep is easily the worst part of the colonoscopy.

Let's assume it's IBS, now what?

its probably IBS, and not crohns. I have a bit of that, but its not terrible.
I had a colonoscopy in April. I am 41. They found 7 precancerous polyops. FUN!

* therapy

are you so scared you can't type? Google this shite (pardon the pun) and settle down son. Neither is life threatening. Your social life may suffer, but you'll survive the IBS/Crohns.

Sounds like you are just high octane. Same thing here. Lose weight as soon as I put it on when something stressful going on. You can try cheese to clog you up.

They have some meds that can help control symptoms, but it's usually if you have either/or (diarrhea or constipation).
Best thing you can do is start keeping a journal and write down what you eat/how stressed you are for a few months. Sometimes it's just pinpointing your triggers with IBS.
IBS isn't life-threatening (as said it's a catch all). I was originally diagnosed with it in the late 90s, but they now believe it was due to endometriosis (it had attached to my bowel and attached the bowel to my abdomen wall) more so than just IBS. Crohns can be in a bad flare/with poor management, but there are plenty of people who live with it and manage it with meds and etc.
Take a deep breath. These are all manageable diseases.
