I really wish Chicken would either show the down votes or get rid of it. I'd love to see what no job assbag has two full days to downvote posts in a hurricane thread.

Can’t get rid of the up/down votes. They determine how much I get paid. Sure, I get more for upvotes, but the downvotes still pay.

eta: To whomever just downvoted me, thanks for the contribution to my retirement fund.

Looking at the post hurricane Ian NOAA pictures.

The building codes in FL are legit. I am amazed by the number of homes that look completely undamaged. Many probably have flood damage but most of the time the homes in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana have major damage. Missing roofs or partial collapses.

I am sure the costs extra to build that way but it seems worth it in the long run.

A lot of places have to build up these codes, not just Florida.

even tho they can see them I suspect they would have to add code to do that for the end user. no idea of the cost of that. along with that, in fighting that it would create might not be worth the headaches.

I downvoted you so that if Chicken ever shows them, you can see it's me.

Called my snowbirds earlier today. (The Villages; we're about 230 miles north of where the eye came ashore.) All is well here.

One couple is in Wisconsin and usually use I75.
The originally planned to start down tomorrow (Oct. 1). They have revised leaving date to Oct. 8, using either I75 or I65.

The other couple are from Rochester, NY. Given how much fun I95 could be, plans are indefinite.

I don't know why they don't do that. They should.

Just curious more about who has the kind of time to downvote every post for two days straight, hours at a time. That's some dedication.

Yeah, I expected to look and see utter devastation and the landscape wiped clean, but amazed by houses, building, boats and boathouses still standing.

Probably the same people that have been posting non-stop for days. I think there are a bunch of unemployed or retired folks on here and this is all they do.
