Not nearly what I expected. The building codes work.

I have home insurance through Safepoint who is based in Tampa. Should I be worried that they'll go insolvent from this?
Assuming you're in Florida, I have experience with an insurance company going bankrupt in the middle of a claim from Hurricane Sally. Here's what I can tell you.
First, assuming you don't have a total loss, an insurance company in financial stress will do everything it can to avoid paying the claim. First, they will send an adjuster who will lowball your claim. Then, when you send estimates, they will send a "certified engineer" to validate the first adjuster's lowball claim. Be very careful when this happens.
Document everything. Video tape the adjuster and the engineer, when they come to your house, if possible. Get your own adjuster to come and do his own report. Contact a good lawyer that has experience with hurricane claims. They can walk you through the process, and if you engage them, they have a network of adjusters that they work with.
Now, the somewhat good news is that if your insurance company does go bankrupt, your claim will get moved to FIGA, which is a fund that all insurance companies pay into in case an insurance company goes bankrupt. The bad news is that they will only cover claims up to $300 or $350K (can't remember) and up to $500K under certain circumstances. If you claim exceeds this amount you are SOL on the amounts above those limits. FIGA will usually rubber stamp the original claim amoount from the original adjuster/engineer's report, that is why it is very important to have as many pictures/videos/reports/documentation that you can.
In my horrendous experience, Hurricane Sally hit on September 16, 2020. My first adjuster came to my house sometimes in October 2020. My insurance co went bankrupt in August 2021. I didn't get assigned an adjuster from FIGA until Oct 2021, and then got passed to 5 different adjusters within FIGA. It was, and still is, a damn nightmare.

Punta Gorda doesn't even look touched... that must not be post-Ian?

Nah, those first images prove that new and better building codes absolutely matter and they make a world of difference. If you told me, without my knowing, that those Punta Gorda images were two days after a Category 4 hurricane I wouldn't believe you.
I think only two roofs are completely gone on the North end of Captiva. Looks like one went and caused the downwind house to lose its roof.
I thought Sanibel would look worse because they never got a break in eyewall. Amazing all the builds look good. I'm sure they are full of sand and probably have some structural damage, but they are all still there.

It is. You can toggle between pre and post hurricane. You really see the damage in out buildings, commercial buildings to an extent, and some stray boats.
It would help, though if the before images were newer. There's been a bunch of new construction since the before images.

Checking in from Plant City. Long and scary night, were without power at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon and are still waiting for it, optimistic on getting it back soon.
Another TD member in Itty Bitty Plant City.
Glad you and your fam are good to go.
I left and wont be back until Saturday.
Lost power about Midnight per my cameras. Power is back on per the Teco Outage map at my place though

Lat/lon coordinates on the sat pictures. Look at the bottom left of the picture in the link. It shows the coordinates of your mouse pointer. I think I centered it on the helicopter.

The wind here in Florence has had a couple of strong gust of 40-45 (estimating). Pine trees in the surrounding neighbors are swaying pretty good.

Weather woman on Fox in Charleston just said Pluff Mudd. All I could think of was Baby Billy when he put the van in the marsh.

Good luck SC. Cleaning up here today. Love that it is so cool out. Makes clean up more enjoyable. Would be having a big bonfire if I could.

Interesting presentation on satellite. A little tropical core, supporting a hurricane. Around it, the ET transition is on.
