I’m honestly amazed at how well those newer structures held up.

I’d love to roll back into to the rental agency with that car and just toss them the keys and say “yeah I paid for your shitty insurance scam”

That’s the Dominator, Reed Timmer’a car. Not real surprising since he was on Pine Island.

Another hit to those with losses is inflation. Better hope insurance is replacement cost. Just in the past year everything is so much higher so along with shortages its going to cost way more to rebuild.

And I can only imagine how many out of state fly by night roofers are making a mad dash for Florida right now.

Be careful and make sure to do due diligence on any contrstruction company hired. They prey on those looking for getting it done fast.

Yeah, my father's house in New Smyrna beach got 2 feet of water. A few miles inland. Had never flooded since built 40 + years ago.

Well, at least for the next week it is supposed to be mild temperatures and dry for most of Florida. That’ll help with search and rescue and those starting to clean up. Have to look for silver linings wherever they can be found.

Definitely a good thing. It was still brutally hot and humid after Ida.

Just passed a ton of National Guard vehicles, a massive U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Emergency Response Unit (command post type vehicle) and a convoy of large tree removal trucks in Birmingham headed south.

Why did people leave their big boats in the water? Cause they had insurance?

You’re not wrong, but to quote a previous post of mine:

Problem is we’re in a king tide right now. For those not familiar with local geography, coastal Georgia and SC have the biggest tides on the east coast until you get WAY up north. We can thank the South Atlantic Bight for that.

Currently, we just passed high tide at 7.6 feet MHHW. That’s 1.6 feet above predicted. Charleston, much like NOLA is at sea level with some parts below. It floods with a high tide and a light sprinkle.

High tide tomorrow is at noon after we’ll have had 12+ hours of onshore wind driven water. This is probably going to be the most extensive flooding the city has seen since Hugo in 1989.

Even the 16” of rain we got in 2016 won’t be like this as that storm didn’t hit during a king tide.
