No chance you get duped. None at all.

Be, be, be careful about letting "strangers" stay in your house.

Many, many Katrina stories about folks that did, and when it came time for them to leave, they would not, because, a month later they still had no where to go.

Pretty sad the amount of people who have reached out to me on airbnb because they have no place to go/stay

I think a lot of people will or will be forced to relocate. It will be interesting to see what happens to the real estate market. Naples will stay expensive. I'm thinking about Estero, Cape Coral, Ft. Myers, etc. They were already on the more affordable side.

Same as happens anywhere. People of the community will take pride in rebuilding of said community. People will overpay as places are repaired and the market will correct itself as more and more places are complete.

I imagine the Ian images will be posted to the same site, but on a different page.

This is the index for the site, but IIRC, it took a while for the index to list the Ida link

https://storms.ngs.noaa.gov/

I would imagine this link would work in the near future:

A friend allowed someone to stay in a rental property post Katrina with the understanding they would do a few chores around the e place, after they destroyed the place it took months and many dollars to evict them.

I'm not sure that will happen with the mobile home parks in prime locations that were destroyed. There was one right on Bonita Beach road across from the Gulf. Developers are going to want that land for the big houses that dominate that stretch of road. It is said that Elton John owns one of the huge houses right on the gulf. There's going to be a change in property types in some areas.

Never forget the great miss of Hurricane Floyd. 4th largest evacuation in history, I got to participate in that one.

It always happens. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, AL was a great example. Prior to Ivan it was mostly older camp style beach homes on stilts. Ivan completely wipes them out and a year later the empty lots are selling for the same price or more than what they were when a house was on it.

That's why I disagreed with another posters 10 year time frame. As soon as the cleanup and infrastructure is complete, the empty sand will be selling at or more than last weeks prices.

Same happaned to MExico Beach after Michael. A month after the hurricane, the empty lots were going for more on zillow than the houses were going for a month prior.

Look at Grand Isle just a year later...it was better than ever since Katrina and it will be even better after Ida
