The damage is unreal, but that is a pic of a trailer park.
Most of Florida is a trailer park

Florida has 828,000 mobile homes. Roughly 600,000 are older models, meaning: They were not constructed to withstand hurricane-level winds. Only half of the state's mobile homes, meanwhile, are insured, said Jim Ayotte, executive director of the Florida Manufactured Housing Association.

Looks that way. Maybe a few houses on the out skirts

While there in June, I took a wrong turn and ended up in a trailer park in Ft Myers beach, just on the inland side of the bridge where all the docks and shrimp boats are. I was surprised based on the real estate value these trailer parks existed there. And there was more than one of them.

Are newer ones able to withstand some level of a hurricane?
Posted on 9/29/22 at 1:05 pm to Y.A. Tittle
Yep, newer building codes were huge there. Massive difference from the older portion of Mexico Beach especially. Cape San Blas, where many of the houses are much newer actually held up much better overall there, despite being a barrier island type set-up.

House built to DOT specs rather than building codes typically don’t fair well in disasters.

If you buy and live in a mobile home under the assumption that any of them are "constructed to withstand hurricane level winds" you need to be given a government-funded helmet.

Flatiron? They did the spans across Pensacola Bay.
Will likely use a product called Acrow bridge. Should be able to be installed by any large competent contractor. Was used in FLA/AL/Miss after the 2004/2005 storm, and in La. I-10 over the lake (twin span) after Katrina. I would assume the Florida DOT has some on hand. I'm guessing that isn't the only missing span in the state for Florida this morning but if its one way in one way out it should get priority. Probably won't take long once equipment etc. is able to access the site.

4-7ft of surge in Charleston will not be good

At the very top of the picture to left of center (left of the white van), there is a boat barely in the picture. It looks like there is a tree also (you can see the shadow). Is that boat in the tree?

Been to St. Augustine several times, that is unfortunate all that history being destroyed.
