Congrats on getting through, Baw. I got a truck dent, but didn't lose a lanai screen, and I think the new roof held up.

I hope daylight brings good news.

My part of St. John's County seems to have lucked out. (Down 210, 15 minutes East of the river) Just rain and strong winds through the night.

assume those planes are somehow fortified more than a regular plane?? Idk what type plane it is .. but it’s modified somehow right? Aside from the inside …

No! The WP-3s used by NOAA and the WC-130s used by the Hurricane Hunters are just plain old stock aircraft with extra sensors and equipment installed.

Lots of mission planning and inflight adjustments using weather radars as they plan their flight thru the storm.

There are some really great podcasts out there with representatives from both services. Fighter Pilot Podcast did one with a meteorologist from the Hurricane Hunters and another with a lady that flies P-3s for NOAA.

Same, further south of you in St. Johns County and just wind and rain right now. Nothing too bad, still have power and Internet (though power has occasionally flickered a few times throughout the morning, so I suspect a tree limb is rubbing somewhere). We checked a few of the beach and downtown cams (not terribly exciting at the moment) and it loooooks like we may have been spared flooding in the usual suspect areas so far.

EDIT to add: any sign of Liz yet?

Very sad. Storm surge, people not evacuating, resulted in several drownings.

Sheriff says there are hundreds of fatalities in Lee County, Florida following #HurricaneIan. #FLwx

Wife’s cousin in Cortez had a little roof damage but no water.

Still no word on anything regarding AMI and LBK.

Y'all make sure and check for shingle dust scratches too. They were all over our vehicles after Ida.
