We’ve got a timeshare in Bunkie and it’s great. We get to go for 3 nights in August every 2 years and we only have to pay $1000 per year

lol, nope. BUT she is offering to cover the lawyer’s fee for change of ownership.
We’ll… like I said in the OP, everything I read said stay away but I thought I would take it to the OT experts to confirm!

Im glad I don’t have a neighbor like that.

My dumbass parents bought this Wyndham shite and my dumbass sister took it over when my dad died. It’s a money trap, your neighbor is hoping to find a sucker, avoid at all costs.

I'm not saying folks don't actually enjoy them, but there is a cottage industry designed to help you get out of them.

No. Absolutely do not take that

Stay away. The fine print can br brutal. My advice, if you want something along these lines, is to form an investment group and buy a property. Set your own rules and gain equity
This is the best advice when it comes to considering a timeshare. Ex: get 20 ppl together, each puts up $100k, buy a condo. Put it in a trust. Set rules. Each member gets 5 weeks per year on rotating basis. Rent two high volume weeks ( ie July 4, Memorial Day) to help offset annual costs.

Sure. What can go wrong? LINK

Google John Oliver's episode on timeshares.

Think about it. She's having trouble giving it away. What should that tell you?

People PAY to get out of these (another scam). Don't do it.

No. It’s a shiny hook but don’t bite.

I always go to the Marriott time share meetings for a cheap vacation. I always pretend to be interested while some attractive woman talks to me for an hour. I never sign and always get offered another trip.

Even this is extremely stupid

Because pretty much everything I read tells me what I don’t want to hear I am searching elsewhere to see if this will tell me what I want to hear.
