80-90’s was the best in my opinion. You started off with a 70’s continuation in culture, relaxed atmosphere and a real push for fun.
The 80s saw the peak of arcades, bicycling, fort building, home computers began to trickle out, cable TV and movie channels became wide spread. VCRs made watching movies at home an event. Kids were still safe to be god knows where all day. MTV began which was huge at the time.
The 90s ushered in the Internet era, CDs,DVDs music festivals and live music was also amazing. Grunge, Alt-rock, heavy metal took over along with country music. Instead of neighborhood events things became more global.
Neither decade copied a previous decade.

quote:Not sure why you got down votes for this. The economic expansion and stability in the US after WWII were nothing short of amazing. Ike was building the interstate system. Homes were cheap. You could raise a family on one salary. We had nowhere near the crime/drama that has followed since. I’d like to take that in.
My vote goes to the 50's.
Grew up in 80s/90s. An awesome time and pre-smart phone cameras so it is hard to get cancelled in today’s hyper-woke society.

The 1960s and 1970s were the best. A social and political revolution was happening. Almost nothing was left untouched. America was undergoing growing pangs and they weren’t gradual.
Unfortunately, it seems that the split between the emerging left and the established right has never healed and has, in fact, resulted in a cold civil war that we’re still fighting to this day.

Born in the 70s. Childhood and young adolescence in the 80s, high school and college in the 90s. Decent draw in life.

1984 was awesome, Michael Jackson was dating girls, movies and sports were incredible that year, even California was red

Definitely.
Society was more open minded. Technology wasn't following us 24-7. Cold War was over and war on terror hadn't kicked off yet.

Simple. By posting what I did, I let the downvoters know I'm a dreaded "Boomer", the objects of scorn for the generations of the last 30 years or so.
Don't you know how "easy" we had it and how my generation messed everything up for future generations............

My parents are older Boomers and they are both awesome people. I love when I see on X people blaming them for taking us off the gold standard

I'd bet dollars to donuts that all the people bitching about "Boomers" would do exactly the same things the boomers did if given the opportunity.
Was it wrong for my generation to get work, remain in those jobs for years at a time, if not an entire career? Or take the opportunity if it surfaced to better their lives by purchasing a home and building equity instead of renting and having nothing to show for it.
How about investing in their retirement so life would be a lot easier when the time came for them to retire.
I didn't make the economy what it was when I was growing up. I was just along for the ride and took advantage of the opportunities that arose to make my life a better one.
Back in the 50's and into the 60's we, the USA, pretty much had their own economy, unlike later years when it became more a global entity and things that happened around the world affected our economy more than it ever did.

The best time to be alive would have been living in Southern California from 1945 to 1975.

Sure, but each decade in the 1900s has its distinguishing “play” on what they copied.
