Well, white flight is racist.
I never said I'm against white flight. What I'm getting at is if you're going to flee crime and dwindling house prices due to crime, at least own the reason why you fled and understand that it is inherently racist...but there's nothing wrong with that.
The whole idea that racism is bad is a farce.
Racism will exist forever and there are valid reasons to be racist. White flight is one of those reasons. No one should feel guilty for leaving a bad situation. You should be blessed that you had the means to accomplish it.
It's the northern transplants who feel guilty for being white, criticize other white people for being proud of their heritage, and then flee without understanding that what they just did was blatantly racist in nature, something they openly criticize.

Because black people often times also move out to the burbs once they realize being a hoodlum and or being in association/close proximity with them is doing them no good. And black people cant be racist.

What is interesting is that if the lowering were put to a vote, it would most likely lose. The proponents of lowering the flag were incredibly against a referendum. They knew that the people in the midlands and upstate wouldn't have voted for it.
FIFY. Overwhelming support for its removal from both sides down here in the low country.
I have no problem with the flag one way or the other but fact is it is a symbol of hate for over 30% of the population. Right wrong or indifferent it doesn't matter. That flag has been stolen by hate groups and now represents that hate to a large populace of SC.
It is what it is.

I think the Upstate would be the real problem area in any vote. During the legislature vote it was Upstate senators and reps who were causing most of the difficulty.

Ok.
The reason the Yankees are fleeing the north is likely because their socialist liberal policies have fricked their home states. They want to spread the crap to new areas.

Which is what I was getting at. They flee the north because of deterioration due to their policies. They seek refuge in the south due to the climate. They criticize "racist white people" in the south and regret moving there, so they flee back to the north and discourage other people from moving to the south. Vicious cycle.
What they are doing is 100 percent racist, yet they have the audacity to label other people racist for loving their southern heritage (which has nothing to do with slavery).
And, what they are doing is most certainly a form of white flight which is 100 percent racist...but once again there's nothing wrong with that. There are times when racism is absolutely justified. For example, the well being of your family should take priority over the well being of people who are committing crime and disorder. Getting the hell out of that situation is certainly racist in nature, but necessary too.

Yes, it was legal within the union, but the swing to make it illegal was under way, and that part of the constitution was ignored in the northern states.
The fact you believe this explains your other statements. Try to look up some facts becuae this is way off from what happened.
Why are people too lazy to research fact?

I couldn't care less about the Confederate flag either way.
The only thing disturbing to me about this whole situation is that there are intense feelings on either side of the issue.
Want to remove the flag? Great. Now it's done. is your life any better? Get to work now, slacker.
Want to keep it for posterity? Why? It was the symbol of the wrong side in a very serious issue in our history. Want to keep it? Well it's down. Is your life any worse?

Me either. It's the ignorance on the matter that drives me mad. It's quite obvious when people spew crap they read from media/slanted sites.

What did they do with the flag afterwards. Did they fold it up and move it to a museum?

It was handed to the museum people and they immediately took it to the museum. It is only a couple minutes down the road.
