The one white guy was actually the only one for self defense from the initial vote. He then switched to manslaughter but wouldn’t budge from that for illogical reasons. The other person was a black guy who thought ward was too drunk to make an conscious decision to do grave bodily harm (making it 2nd degree murder) and wouldn’t budge.

Who were the 10 for murder and the 2 for manslaughter?
Hmmmm... I think I could posit a guess.

Ward is a dumbass who's going to rot but this was as clear of manslaughter as you'll ever get. Anyone voting for murder is a potato brain.

There was a couple who were talking and saw Jackson passing by and then a few minutes later saw ward beating Jackson. The girlfriend and her coworkers testified as to what happened before ward went downstairs and passed out. The only testimony about what happened exactly when Jackson approached ward was from a lady who said she was riding her bike and saw it and ward himself and we didn’t believe either.

Wait what? And fuller didn’t raise hell over this?
Edit: it still makes no sense that the knife would be folded and put back in Jackson’s pocket after the beating, so the knife attack theory doesn’t hold water but i find it very odd that the hospital would have destroyed evidence from a crime scene.
Also OP, can you discuss the mysterious cut on Wards hand and if there was any forensic evidence or the like offered or rebutted to explain it as evidence of a slashing? It seeems no one found it convincing. Can you elaborate why?

So in other words, in a couple years when Ward is out on appeal he needs to write that hospital a thank-you letter?
Because it sounds like he has a slam dunk case for appeal. People forget the "proven without a reasonable doubt" part of conviction, and OPs posts here basically prove that theory.
It's scary to think that you might be the one on trial one day (and this isn't a defense of Ward at all), and have these same standards applied

Any chance if there was a knife Red pulled it because Ward was about to beat him to death?

People saw him beating on Jackson and were intervening so He walked away and ended up in the parking garage.

My understanding is that I can say whatever I want.
Knife never tested
Never treated for any cuts
Not that was introduced to us
We felt every witness was lying except the couple who saw Jackson walking by and then saw ward beating Jackson up at which point he boyfriend intervened,

Witnesses who just saw the beating but not the start are pretty useless, right? Of course that would look bad to any random onlooker. Who were the witnesses that saw the start of the altercation?
You are making this even worse, did the state really present no hard evidence?

This either speaks to the fact that there was no credible evidence of a knife attack at the scene, especially given:
quote:
Never treated for any cuts
And that it was a last minute Hail Mary defense… or a serious issue for appeal. Given that fuller seems not to have made a big deal over it than I’m guessing it was a flimsy, desperate defense.

The only people that said they saw the actual beginning of the alercation were both quite unreliable to include ward himself.

Honestly until I read this thread I thought Ward was completely guilty. I am sort of starting to have doubts now.
What are the odds the op is who he says he is?
