So even if you lose the case and get convicted it’s still that much? That’s got to be a sick feeling spending all that money and and did not help one bit!
The price is the price attorneys can't do contingency work on criminal cases. It could have been worse, he could have gotten life without.

Legal fees are legal fees. You do not get refunded upon conviction.

Ward was initially facing a charge of 2nd degree murder and received a manslaughter conviction. He could’ve received a life sentence without the benefit of parole. Moral of the story, don’t go out and get shite faced and beat someone to death.

Just found out he’s at Elayn Hunt. Atleast he’s not in Angola if that makes a difference.

Why? What's with the sympathy?

Is Garrett smoking meat for July 4th?

Just a reminder baws: careful with the drinking
Posted on 7/4/22 at 3:24 pm to danilo
I agree. This never would have happen if he wasn’t so drunk as he was. He probably does not remember any of it.

It likely wouldn't have happened if he hadn't gotten so wound up fighting with his GF and laying hands on her.

Bingo. If he wasn’t so insecure and jealous of his girlfriend speaking to another dude he wouldn’t be in prison right now.
What a lowlife piece of shite. Threw his life away over a piece of arse. He’s not the first and unfortunately won’t be the last to do the same thing

Any pics of his former girlfriend?

Our choices were 2nd degree which was life with no parole, manslaughter which was up to 40, or acquit. We were 11/12 for at least manslaughter from the first vote and at the end it was 10 for 2nd and 2 for manslaughter. No one wanted to see another trial so we all switched to manslaughter.
So, here is where I may call BS. How did y’all know what the sentence was?

He was hitting the girlfriend?

The only sentence for 2nd degree murder by law is life with no parole. We did not know what the sentence would be if we convicted for manslaughter.

He slapped her at the bar in front of her co-workers prior to going outside and having the altercation. It was undisputed.

I just assumed he’s a friend or family member. All of his posts are overly empathetic of Ward.

As defense counsel you request a jury instruction on the mandatory sentence for second degree murder and there’s case law that allows the inclusion of that instruction.
