Yes I do, but the key component of my thought was the asphalt become pliable when heated therefore not rigid enough to buckle.

Or it’s just the DOTD using the heat as a scape goat for their shitty work

Wouldn’t extreme heat do the opposite to asphalt, considering it gets softer when heated?

Things expand when heated they contract when cold. Idiot

Also, nice buckled "payment" there, KLFY.

That is what happens when a road bounces a check.

Years ago during a similarly blistering summer, was heading down Brightside (towards Nicholson from RR) when the concrete buckled at a seam ahead of me just under a car that was passing over.

Sounded like a shotgun blast and the car was thrown up into the air and landed hard on the front end.

The roadway was a peak sitting up 3 feet from the level of the roadway.

Pretty damned freaky.

Water is one of the few exceptions to this behavior. When liquid water is cooled, it contracts like one would expect until a temperature of approximately 4 degrees Celsius is reached. After that, it expands slightly until it reaches the freezing point, and then when it freezes it expands by approximately 9%.

You’re correct ! About a mile before the HWY 44 exit last night, the concrete in the westbound right hand lane was protruding upward and I ran over that shite before I saw it. Thankfully my front tires were not damaged.
