Youre not a prescriber and no, it doesnt. You'll get asked if you want to leave a message and then you'll eventually get connected with a tech.
Can confirm as I have watched my wife almost throw her phone through the wall trying to call in a prescription

If you say the right words on the phone a hospital will put you straight through to the OR phone, doesn't mean you should use it.
I have a directory doctor cell phone numbers, I wouldn't dare use it for personal reasons.

If you have a medication that has a national shortage and is also a controlled substance, then you have to call around to each pharmacy to figure out which one has it. I've had to do this often. There's no other way to find out other than calling each one. They are not allowed to tell you which pharmacies have it either.

This thread perfectly captures how old we’ve all become on the OT

I get discounts through my health plan if I use CVS, so I'm not using another pharmacy.
Same thing for me being forced to use CVS, but I will use HEB for two of my generic meds since it is 1000% faster and cheaper.

Wow. Great analogy. Those are very similar to getting in touch with the pharmacist or pharmacy tech who are the only person who can help.
I’m not calling them to shoot the breeze. I have the apps. There’s no other way I can get help. It’s not my fault they have made it near impossible to get in touch with them for customers.

Or do business with a better pharmacy than walgreens or cvs.
This. I have my prescriptions at a local pharmacy owned by one of my neighbors. I’ve known her for over 20 years. Coached rec baseball with her husband. Our boys grew up together playing sports and going to school. In fact one of her sons is going to be my son’s best man in a few weeks, and the other is a one of his groomsmen.
I take peace of mind in knowing the person taking care of my meds actually cares whether I live or die.

I get why people dislike corporate healthcare, but the people who work there still mostly care.

We’ll all be in nursing homes at some point cussing at AI bots.

It’s not a mistake either , you’re purposefully lying to beat the line of other callers because he thinks he’s slick and kore important than everyone else trying to get through
No better than getting up first on an airplane and running through the aisle to be the first off the plane
Yeah.. no. It’s not about “beating people in line.” If you think that’s what it is, you clearly haven’t tried to get in touch with a pharmacy tech at CVS for the past few years.
The issue isn’t that you have to wait to speak with someone. The issue is that their automated system is designed to prevent you from getting in line to speak with someone in the first place. They intentionally run you in circles through the automated menu and there’s no prompt or button to actually get a call through to the pharmacy.
FWIW if you say “leave a message for the pharmacy” enough times it will, in fact, let you leave a message. But I don’t blame people for not knowing how to get through when the system doesn’t actually give you that option and instead actively tries to push you away from it.

Then we have to stop what we are doing to answer the phone there just for someone to ask if their med is ready yet ?
Again no, because 1) there would be no need simply to check whether a prescription is ready (the automated system will tell you this) and 2) at CVS all roads seem to lead to “leave a voicemail and they’ll call back when they’re ready” anyway.
But more to the point, how the frick did we reach a point in society that people at a retail establishment are somehow offended by having to talk to their customers? I know.. the horror, right?

“I WANT TO TALK TO A REAL frickING PERSON” usually works.

Except you’re not calling on the customer line.. you’re calling on the prescriber line, which you aren’t.
So now as the only pharmacist on duty, I’ve gotta stop whatever I’m doing, verifying meds before it goes in bags, or checking stuff coming through the system.. to answer his phone call that “should” be a prescriber. And instead it’s just someone trying to beat the system to get someone on the phone
Yes I know the phone system blows. But when you have twice as many phone calls coming in as people working, everyone’s gotta wait. The system is set up shittey like that .

Do the simple thing and use your local family pharmacy. You know, the ones Walgreens & cvs are trying to run out of business…
Posted on 3/27/26 at 1:33 am to SUB
Usually if you hit 0 five times in a row rapidly it will bypass all automated menus.
Works for all major credit cards.

I don’t have to even look to know that cvs is probably manipulated by private equity. Everything must be terrible for you so they can make more money.

Thats why I use small mom and pop pharmacies. Never have a problem speaking to a real person and having my question answered in minutes.
Ive literally watched a friend call Walgreens for a week, multiple times a day, and she still had to drive 30 minutes to get her questions answered (it was the closest walgreens that always has her medication in stock).
