I had to call them yesterday and the first guy I got was Pedro speaking in broken English at rapid fire speed. I told him from the jump that he and I both knew there was nothing he could do to help me so that he could go ahead and transfer me to a rep who schedules service calls. I explained that I had done everything that could be done already, I didn't need to do it two more times with him and the person he ultimately transfers me to, and there was no point in wasting mine and his time. He transferred me right away. Now, we are waiting for the tech to show today.
I'm an IT guy who supports a call center. I can tell you right now your problem is going to be solved within the next 2 years. Maybe even sooner.
You will no longer be speaking to a real person. You'll be speaking to an AI bot, and you won't even know it. It will sound like a real person, and you will be able to converse with it.

Wait, do you want a rooster outside your office window, or do you want to be hanging out outside of some rando’s office window.

Only acceptable if they are home sick.

My wife works from home and my 84 year old father doesn't give a tinkers damn if she is working or not LOL. I have come home to the 2 of them about to pull knives out over it.

My company announced last month that they are shutting down our office and we will be fully remote on 1/1.
Sucks because me and the employees that come in don’t like wfh. I am a rare millennial that likes to go into the office, have all my screens setup, standing desk, free coffee and snacks etc.
Now, I’m forced to work from a small desk at my house and I have an 18 month old that I’m sure will always want to come see “dada” randomly during the day. Don’t get me wrong I love that I’ll be able to spend a lunch break with her but I’m going to have to set some ground rules for the wife and her

I like being in the office, and I am 5 days a week now at my current job. My old job could literally be done anywhere with an internet connection though, so when they started bringing us back in, everyone hated it. Commute downtown 3 days a week, only to hop in a small conference room to join a Teams meeting, and have half the people in the meeting in their office in another state, and the other half in their home. Plus the hybrid schedule they laid out made no sense. Only half of our floor was allowed to be in the office at one time, so we rotated weeks. But the actual people that worked together on projects were on opposite weeks. So I'm in the office trying to talk to someone who is WFH, and it just over complicated things. Either go all in or all out.

we take WFH seriously because we appreciate the ability to have it.
I think WFH should definitely be a privilege and I think making sweeping policies ("Everyone is remote!" "Everyone needs to return to office!") doesn't feel like the best long-term solution.
If you can do your job in a productive and efficient manner, then you should have more WFH responsibilities. If you're missing meetings, being completely unresponsive (to an unacceptable extent), and having meetings from bed, then perhaps an office environment might be better for that employee.
But there are some of us who do work hard from home and appreciate that we don't have to do small talk with whoever and stare at the wall during less busy times instead of doing laundry, cooking lunch, cleaning, etc.

You know you’ve gone full retard when you think working from home is killing America. Just because your lazy arse only works when you’re being micromanaged doesnt mean everyone else is lazy.

If you have kids yelling in the background while you "work", that is no good.
One of the IT contacts for my customer out in Oregon lives somewhere on the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. He's Bill Gates down there based off what they pay him comparatively. Anyway, he married some local and they live on a farm out there. I always used to hear the kids and chickens when I talked to him. It was funny.

We had the same one, had one in the Phillipines with a cow and monkey on his back porch, as he worked there when he was on zoom.
Have a guy in Florida with a pet pig, miniture donkey, a rabbit and several dogs. Great guy first zoom I did with him got on early and his donkey was on camera. It was hilarious.

Tech support at my previous job was outsourced to Costa Rica and the most talented rep had a fricking rooster in his backyard right outside his office window.
My company has gone the outsourcing route for a lot of our development. The amount of farm animals and heavy machinery I hear in the background is incredible. Some of them sound like they office under a highway overpass or out of a daycare also.

We do the same. Things are usually quieter than an office would be until those little bitches see a squirrel or cat out the window.

You'll figure it out. You better enjoy those random visits when they're little. Eventually you'll end up blinking a few times and all of a sudden they're 15 like mine is.

Agreed. I WFH and make sure my dog is in a place where he won't disturb anything if I am in a meeting. Kids are old enough to know better. I've been WFH for almost 10 years now. Did it before the cool kids.

My new employer is 100% WFH. In fact, there is not even a corporate office. All employees from the CEO/President on down WFH.

What if it’s my dog?
