I have said enough about my work on these forums over the years that I will not be answering questions like this as it will make it too easy to identify where I work. There are only so many cpa firms that specialize in government audits in the world.

That's the crux of the issue. I did help them; I just did not help them as much as the CFO wanted. I'm a Gen Y, btw. CFO was my direct boss at one point, FWIW.

I’m positive, the OP was premad about possibly being asked in the future. At which point you say something to the effect of “I’ve been helping the last several months and I’ve been a lot more involved than I think was originally intended. It’s eaten into my ability to perform my own job, we need to really think about my exit process from this project”

If it ever even gets to that point

Are you and the OP dating because you sure as shite try to answer everything for him.

We only hear what he’s telling us and I highly doubt it’s 100% truth,

You sound like a douchebag who never should have been promoted into a leadership role. This is a very poor display of leadership qualities.

People like you are the exact reason that companies end up with shitty cultures, miserable employees, and high turnover rates.

Also, when someone who outranks you such as the CFO asks you to do something, you do it. You don’t say no.

Hopefully for you they won’t find decide to find someone else to replace you who will be a better team player.

How many people you manage gives precisely zero input into where you work

So the answer is clearly zero. As expected

Say yes when there is something in it for you. Say no if there’s not or you truly don’t have the capacity. Pretty simple concept. This wasn’t a big ask.

gladly take on the work

mention that it will come at a serious strain to your duties (probably complete BS)

Do the task full-assed enough that there is no room for anyone to complain about it

do the task half assed enough that the new manager wont reach out to you again

If you're asking this question, then the answer is probably, yes.

If you're not, then you'd have no doubt.

Completely incorrect. This shows you know very little about the accounting world.

Well this is just wildly incorrect.

First time on a messgae board?

You're welcome to answer the question. How does the person learn by someone else doing their job for them?

You refuse to just do it for them. “I’ll help, I’ve booked the conference room for Wednesday, I’ll work with you through the process”

Are you autistic?

You may be at a larger firm. If so, I feel sorry for you. You're definitely not at a higher level.
