What are some internal signs that your roof is fricked, Stout? Gonna keep an eye on it

Stout what about high pitched roofs and no gutters

Make sure ice isn't forming on the eaves.
Ice dams can form higher up but it's usually the eaves. I would clear out piles of snow where you can safely reach it. All I had was an extendable paint handle and screw-on broom head. There are some spots I am still concerned with but I did what I could. I might get a ladder out in the morning and try to get to more of it.

That's what I have. Mine averages about 9/12 and I don't have gutters because they trap moisture and cause termites. I still cleared my eaves
Better safe than sorry.

Just get a big push broom and knock it down about 2 feet around in deep spots

Ice dams are a bitch, my attic is probably vented, had to fix it after the last attic freeze 10 years ago and my roof leaked. It’s currently 4 degrees in Ohio and I have a huge ice damn on my left gutter this is new, looks like it’s pulling, hope it holds.

I've got a spot on my roof that always drifts real bad when we get snow here so I just scrape it off for ease of mind.

Yep....is alot of fun for a while, then comes the frustrating side. Unfortunately, roof issues will hit the pocket book of many homeowners, probably more than plumbing issues.

The melt will start tomorrow morning.

Metal roof owners shouldn't have to worry, right?

Some of you guys need to look at that diagram he posted in the OP again.
Snow melts over the part of the roof above your attic as it is slightly warm. It refreezes over your eaves as there is no internal heat there.
There doesn't have to be a single thing wrong with your roof for it to leak due to ice dams.
Pull the snow off your roof over the eaves to help mitigate the issue.

Im gonna go hose most of the snow off of mine real quick

Mine is from fricking ridge vents. Not like the pics in the other thread, but enough to put some spots on the ceiling.
Thankfully, we're waiting the house this summer.

Yea, my bad. I was waiting to see how much of it melted off today before I got worried but when I still had mountains on the eaves I got concerned and also thought the OT might need to handle their roofs
