Once you use a Case knife for a while it loosens up a bit. The factory makes them to very close tolerances and they are hard to open when new. Think of it as a break in period. If it sits in a drawer, the blades will always be hard to open. This one is from the 1980's that is as hard to open as the day it was made.

My everyday knife is a Kershaw Scallion, but one of my favorites is a Gerber Gator. It's too big for a pocket knife, but if I was looking for one, I'd look at Gerber.

Pocketknife is always a great gift. I'm partial to Kershaw these days, good edges and come in a variety of styles and price points...

Think I'll just buy this Case Sodbuster.

I think it is a great single blade but that would be more for personal everyday use on say a farm cutting hay bales.

If these guys are city folks you need a smaller and more decorative knife with at least 2 blades so you can clean your nails with the smaller one. As a groomsman a small double with mother of pearl is a pretty handsome gift.

I second the Opinel suggestions. Best pocket knife and unique enough that they most likely won’t already have five just like it.

You can get them easily (and inexpensively) personalized as well.

I carry a CRKT Squid. Very good price point and has held up well. Perfect size for everyday carry.

I have an Old Timer that never leaves my pocket, but a few years ago a friend gave me a Cold Steel American Lawman folder. The thing is badass but a little too big for an EDC. Asked my wife for one for Christmas so I'm not sure of the model. But it stays in the other pocket now.

They are great knives imo, but not sure on the price point.

Great choice. That's the one I almost bought in the diving blade alloy

Just ordered this on Amazon based on your post. Really like the looks and size of it. The video on it was good too.
