I need a parade music system. Help.

It’ll ride in the back of the truck and just point back to the float. Thinking a guitar amp, or public address speaker, run off of an inverter. It has to be available for pick up now, I need it this weekend. Any suggestions?

Sams has some bluethooth speakers you can get in the store.

It needs to be loud, parade loud. Like it to be wired in so we don’t lose volume.

May want to cross-post on the Tech Board or even the Music Board maybe?

Where is this trashy parade?

I see a music store in Slidell has PA rentals. That may work.

Have you searched PA system rentals in that area? How many watts are you looking to have?
Seems like you're in a lucky location to have this problem because you're central to stuff in LA and farther east in MS if you're willing to drive an hour or so.

Ask this question over in the tech room.

Whatever an inverter will push without shutting off. Needs to be ON for hours.

Stupid music. 20 women riding on a float getting drunk and handing out sweet potatoes music.

Just start calling around from Slidell to Gulfport/Biloxi. The rental guys will know what's appropriate for that.

Really wanted to buy something so I don’t have to rent every year. Thinking a used amp from a music shop or a pawn shop would be clutch. Then just go to Lowe’s for an inverter.

Rent a couple of live sound powered speakers then you only have to have 120v power and source cables. The trick will be having the proper cable to connect to your source so you may have to go from unbalanced to balanced inputs.

Ahhhh... ok, sorry misunderstood. I'd still call around to see what setup they'd suggest for your purpose so you know what to buy. Good luck.
And don't hate on our girly music because you waited 'til the week of the parade

We won’t have the amperage for that, and I was hoping a mono type PA would work. Think a guitar amp will have too narrow of a frequency response?

We use the Bluetooth ones from Sams on our float, we have several, and they are loud enough.
ETA: the tractor pulling the float has a generator, so power is not an issue.

My wife’s the treasurer, I only get stuck with this since I’ll be around that morning and it’s always been a cluster that I fix (borrow something from another husband last minute)...just want to put this baby to bed.

How much current will your inverter push? The class D amps in something like a Behringer B208D is going to be very efficient as is the speaker, so you can't really get more efficient than that. Those 208s will run about $350 for a pair but you might not be able to source them immediately. But if you can't run them you don't have enough current to run anything 120v for the purpose. You could just use one and only need a max of about 3amps or ~350 watts.
