I've always wanted to check out Big Bend National Park. Is it overrated or something? I think it's larger than some states.

You moved from one liberal area to another one

Big Bend is great but it doesn’t compare to the national parks in California imo

Unless you’re in the middle of Houston or DFW, I don’t get this statement. I hear it all the time and I’ve never lived more than an hour away from a State, National, or CoE public land. When I travel for work, i always look for trails to run and there’s always something in range unless I’m in a urban center.
I guess there’s not much public hunting land but that’s never been a thing for me.

Funny he mentions dishonesty and rudness. California has some of the biggest liars and cheaters in the country. Considering it's filled with a ton of shady foreigners it's scammers galore. While the weather is nice since it's always sunny and barely rains. It's dusty and polluted as hell which causes health hazards since there is nothing to wash away the bad air quality.

I bet I hate that guy.
It would be like me moving to California and bitching about having to give blowjobs. You gotta know where you are moving to.
And your little crumbsnstcher ain’t special. They need to sit cross cross applesauce or kiss recess good bye.

It's not the same as out west. I'm in the same boat there's nothing close if you're in Dallas outside of a few trails. I'll probably be moving back sometime soon because I miss it.

I want to punch that guy just on general principles. What a whiny little biatch.

Move 5 hours northeast to Northwest Arkansas.

What an arse. News flash Texas is not California.
In his defense, Austin does say it's all these great things, and it's not, and compared to the rest of Texas, the people are rude ... but that's the non-Texans.

However, you're going to whine because you bought a house double the size and the utilities are expensive (no shite, you now have twice the house)
There are a lot of great places in Texas to get outside, he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Even right outside of Austin closer to San Marcos and New Braunfels there are little parks where you can canoe and just hang out. It might not be as pretty as California, but it's there. Plus, in Texas ... you gotta drive!!! Pack up that electric car and explore, idiot.
And the reason the schools are good is because they discipline. Ask a teacher from Texas and ask one from Louisiana ... there's a big difference. I don't know any teachers from California, thank god.

It baffles me how many idiots are in this thread trashing what’s actually a great opportunity. Stop trying to convince this poofter that he’s wrong about Texas. Start sending this fricking article to every single person in California.

How's the Ganja in the Lone Star State? Do Texans smoke American grown herb or do they still import the bricks?
Lulz. Texas comprises nearly 10% of American population and would be a top ten global economy on its own, and you’re asking if it had access to high quality American marijuana?

Dude didn't do his homework. There are lot's of great places to live in TX and all over the US. Some people just can't be happy no matter where they are.

Goober doesn’t realize Austin isn’t part of Texas

What's crazy about that is. Austin has a lot of South Asians and plenty of good food. They just relied too heavily on Yelp. Which is the worst metric. You can pay for better rankings.
But yes that line and the line about being mad about discipline in schools upset me.

One thing he mentioned in passing that I don't miss about Austin. The scorpions. They would get into the house. Crawl in your shoes. They were the worst. I remember when fire ants first came the scorpions thinned out for a while. Then came back with a vengeance.

Maybe he meant the sports fields and picnic areas. In many places you have to reserve those.

I sort of think this article is a troll.
Or the guy was paid by someone who wants to discourage Californians.
I applaud this guy and look forward to sharing more of his work.

I grew up in San Angelo and had dozens of scorpion stings growing up. I haven’t seen one in Temple, TX in 12 years of living here. I’m shocked to hear they’re a thing in Austin
