I don’t understand it either and every kids movie has to have some animation in it. When school went virtual when covid first happened, we watched all those classic mighty ducks and that genre and he loved it and asked why they don’t make those kind of movies anymore.

it was a different world.
my kids do this all the fricking time and it's honestly sad how shlocky and poor movies are now. Seemed like back then movies relied more on individual quality and good messaging and characters, nowadays it's 'watch movie get excited for next movie.' no thanks. I realize people are getting dumber and appealing to the LCD is where it's at, but doesn't mean me and mine have to accept it.
I watched Aliens with my oldest and he loved it and could not believe it was almost 40 years old.

The closest thing we have to that is Stranger Things which is like a sci fi version of the Goonies and Cobra Kai.

Because there's just not that big of a market for it.
Those kind of movies don't put people in seats - people would much rather stay home and stream movies unless they're really worth it to go the cinema to see.

Early 80s here. Spent most of summer at summer camp (counselor) and grandparents.

There is a contest to rename this old BR mainstay
A. Black Bayou
B. Tattoo Bayou
C. Bayou Azule
My vote is for A

I'm just glad you're calling it by its correct name instead of its cool, new name--"climate change."

My childhood was 8n the mid 70’s. We didn’t have counselors. We just went out and did whatever we wanted. Home when the street lights come on.
I pity kids today. We’ve ruined their lives with helicopter parenting.

My mom sent my sister and I to the BREC camp at some Garden location on Independence. Probably the best Summer of my life as a kid.

Yup. 70 and 80s WAY better than the 90s.

Born in 80
Don’t get me started. That was the golden era.
Leave on your bike and mom would say just be home by dark.
Dad would take me to the theater with him for every movie. I remember seeing Porkys, Children of the Corn, and Revenge of the Nerds
Just hang out at a buddies all day and play RBI or Tecmo Bowl and drink Mountain Dew.
Not a worry in the world

You sure about that? Porky’s was released in 1981. Revenge Of the Nerds was 1984.
