Met a bunch of Wisconsin folk at LSU games in Houston and Green Bay. Good people who like to have a good time. We stayed in Appleton for the GB game and every where we went people were polite and helpful. I think this must have been how society was in the 50’s.

It's like that pretty much anywhere northwest of 40n 90w. (obviously there are some exceptions)

We lived in Boise for 5 years. Moving there from Louisiana was a culture shock. We recently moved back to east to around Indianapolis.

East of the rockies, south of I-80 is nothing but shitholes. It hurts to hear, Louisiana is my home.

But it is a fricking shithole and there's a glaring reason for it.

When I go back in someone’s shocked at just how genuinely friendly everyone is.

Yeah there is a lot of woke bullshite

That largely exists in Madison and Milwaukee. Not so much elsewhere.

They probably think you’re a racist POS since you are from the South/Louisiana even know Louisiana has 31% to their 6% in AA demographics.

Our families lakehouse is just outside of town. Beautiful area. Sad though what Asian milfoil has done to so many of the lakes.

Fun fact: Jim Rome has a place on the Eagle Chain (of lakes) he goes to for a few weeks every summer.

I believe 9 of the 13 places on our road were owned by FIBs when I was a kid, and it is about a 5-6 hour drive one way from Chicago. Goes to show just how little there is in Illinois outside of Chicago.

A lot of the Midwest would be a decent place to raise a family and live.
I've lived in about 20 different towns in about 10 different states, and my favorites were Columbus, OH, and La Crosse, WI.

I love it. And an extremely underrated area to bike. Biking the area in the summer in and around Boulder junction, eagle river and lake tomahawk is delightful.

This last trip someone landed a sea plane in cranberry lake and was flying it around the chain of lakes. I should have known it was Rome.

Beautiful state. The Dells, fishing at Lacrosse, a game at Lambeau, etc. My grandmother was born and raised there until she met my grandfather in the Air Force. Her dad helped build the capitol tower in Madison. Yes they can drink a lot. Nothing else to really do in the winter. But one important thing missing. The women on average are not attractive at all. We are spoiled in the south.

The South and the Midwest are much more culturally similar than people in both regions realize.

Refresh me on what a FIB is again? I know it refers to people from Illinois who move or own property in Wisconsin. Would I unfortunately qualify as one if I am not originally from this shithole? I grew up in La and Tx.

Not really. I've spent my entire life living in both regions, and have spent some time in New England, and the South is much closer to the Midwest than it is to New England.

I was in Boston the night Les Miles' Kansas team went up and beat Boston College 48-24 a few years ago. In the South or the Midwest, there would be callings for the coach to be fired. That weekend in Boston, it wasn't even a blip on the radar.

Southern hospitality and Midwestern manners are very similar things. They are very different than the Massholes in New England.

Im from Baton Rouge and now live in New Brighton Minnesota and Houston and go back and forth. NB is an interior suburb of St. Paul. My fiance is a U of M grad and from Hayward Wisconsin, where her family still lives. I have gotten the local flavor from both states and been to some Gopher football games thus far. It cold AF but its manageable and the summer is absolutely unreal. the season change is very cool. there is a ton to do for the outdoor lovers. There are a ton of major corporations based in the twin cities. The food is surprisingly good and the music scene is legit. I am also in driving distance of Millwaukee and Chicago. I give it a thumbs up. All the other shite I don't care about.
