My wife's is like $1200 per month and to add me and my son $1900 total. I pay one seperate from my job for about $300. Her boss covers her and my son. Sounds like you have the cheapest plan available. If you want better coverage it's gonna cost.

Posts like this make me so thankful I have a $40 copay for specialists with zero deductible zero co-insurance, and a $2,500 out of pocket max. If I have surgery, the most I’ll have to pay in a worst case scenario is $2,540.
Posts like this make me grateful that my parents taught me to be humble.

Insurance is one of the most criminally broken things in the world, and the industry has done a flawless job of pitting us against each other in the name of “Capitalism” by painting any kind of reform as communism.

That sucks...can you opt out and get coverage maybe through your spouses employer on on the marketplace for a year?

Nope. My spouse's plan is even worse than mine

Health insurance in this country has sucked for a looooooong time. Tying it to your job was one of the dumbest mistakes this country has made as far as domestic policy.

I completely agree with this. It's total asinine that healthcare is tied to what your employer is willing to pay for.

Just wait a few months and select better insurance for 2022.

It’s October. Schedule the surgery for Jan 3rd.

170/month

What do you expect paying this every month. When I was working this is what a HDHP cost. And it had those kind of deductible. After you reached that limit everything from that point on was covered at 100%

It’s a fricking shame the best way to avoid getting sacked with outrageous medical bills is to avoid your health and don’t go to the doctor

Exactly!

My wife pays $300 a month through her employer for herself. If we put all of us on there it would be $1750 month.

I pay $638 a month privately for myself and my two oldest son's. The 2 other boys we adopted are covered under medicaid until they graduate high school

It's my largest bill every month and we don't ever use it.

My wife and I decided about a month or two ago that we wouldn't make the deductible unless something tragic happened, so we decided to forego the $700/ month we were paying in premiums and just cancel the insurance. Only thing we've had since it dentist appointments for the kids, but the dental plan we had was also shite.

This is one of the stupidest and most selfish things I’ve read here in awhile. There are areas you can save money without putting your children’s health at risk

You need to call the dr and the surgery center and find out the codes they are using for surgeon charge, facility charge, anesthesia charge, then call your insurance company and find out what their allowable( the only amount you would be responsible for) is for those, because ain’t no insurance company paying $9k for a knee scope, the price you have been quoted is the sticker price, you should be “out the door” for less than 3k

You chucklefricks know just enough about the ACA to be message board dangerous.

You have forgotten that a republican Congress eliminated the individual mandate penalty for coverage.

What did that do? Took a whole helluva lotta people out of the insurance pool. What did that do? Raise prices for those left in it.

So, blame the republican Congress and Trump for fricking you over.

So you want everyone to be FORCED to bare your burden. Guess liberals will find anyway possible to justify additional welfare. Save this bullshite for the websites you use to find cucks for your wife.
