1500 miles. My truck made it all the way through! I'm sure for some of you, this is nothing but for me, this is by far the most car traveling I've ever done. With my main family in California and locked down, I decided to drive to Ohio to see some other family. Stayed in 5 major cities. I'll give me reviews of the places.
St Louis: Went bar hopping. a lot less strict with the mask wearing. Not a whole lot going on downtown but that's probably because of covid. I can definitely see it being a good time out. Some homeless would berate me for money.
Southern Illinois: Just drove through and got gas. A lot of Jesus signs. The local radio stations were, uhh, interesting...
Indianapolis: Lost an hour with the timezone but I went to this italian restaurant. Vintage place with a lot of personality. Ir felt like I was in somebody's personal home for the 1970;s.
Cincinnati: Sketchy as hell. Felt like I had to watch my back constantly. We walked across the bridge into Kentucky and Newport seemed real nice. I'd live there over Cin City.
Frankfort, Kentucky: Went to the Buffalo Trace Distillery. I did this trip on a whim so I tickets for tours were already sold out. Seems real cool and was free. A worker there was nice enough to give me a history tour while we were shooting the shite outside.
Nashville: With a pandemic and the recent bombing, it wasn't the best. FBI everywhere, police. When I first got there, I actually accidentally walked by some road closures and nearly got tot he site of the bombing before a cop starts yelling at me what am I doing and asking me how did I manage to sneak through here. Broadway was fun, Ryman Auditorium was great. Belle Meade Plantation was a great tour, as well. 30 acres of land and you're free to walk anywhere. 10 PM lockdowns sucked.
Memphis: Barren. Beale Street only had 1 bar open. Walking back to my hotel, a prostitute kept following me. The gigantic Bass Pro Shop was awesome. Had a great Memphis style dinner and breakfast.
Fayetteville, Arkansas: I live here.

I've driven from Scranton,Pa. to New Iberia, La. In a 24 hour period. Two days later I had to make the trip back, that was hell.

1300 miles in 24 hours? That is a tough haul without meth or Addys.

Awesome dude! Road trips can be lots of fun. Some of the best memories I have are driving my family across country.

quote:Uhhh....Newport on the Levee is in no way indicative of how shitty Newport itself is. Not a chance in hell I'd live there.

Cincy is fine. You were probably close to PBS and GABP and the Over the Rhine area. Yeah, theyve revamped areas but you gotta get out a ways from the river area to see the awesome parts of that city.
Buffalo Trace is a good tour, I highly recommend the Woodford Reserve tour. The drive itself to it is worth it. You want to see what central KY, bourbon, the bluegrass region and big time horse money are all about.

Went from Virginia Beach to Oak Harbor, WA (around 3200 miles) in 5 days in an F150 pulling a 32 foot travel trailer. I vowed I will roll my camper off a mountain for insurance money before I ever do that again. 10 mpg, the physical toll, and general uncomfortability was way more than enough for me. Only bright side was seeing some beautiful scenery and sights. One that stands out is seeing Couer d’Alene Lake from I-90
