I traded in my old Sentra at 180,000 miles and never had any transmission issues

The new Chevy Trax is a really good buy in that segment.

Both my wife's Rogue and my Sentra'a CVT went out right after 100k miles.. 104 on my Sentra.

My 16 Altima made it to 120,000ish. Guess not bad but had many Altimas with non cvt go well over 200k with no transmission failures.

I'm an Elon Musk fan but don't set your clock by his timeline. Remember the Cybertruck was 2 yrs away when introduced.

Got one now at 80k miles.
Wondering how long more it'll last
1. What year model?
2. If 2013–2020 trade it in now before it goes bad

My past 3 cars have been Nissans. Bought the 2023 pathfinder because they dropped the cvt. They are just too unreliable.

I wish you luck buddy but I would never buy a nissan. Their CVT transmissions are refried garbage.

Shocker that cars break down when you don’t properly maintain them! OMGzzzz.

As long as you drain and fill the CVT transmission fluid on a regular schedule, they are by-and-far very reliable.

I've had two Nissan trucks. One was great, the other was reliable, but a cheaply made vehicle. A friend of mine has a Frontier that is the same, fairly reliable, but not that fun to drive or ride in.

At one time, Nissan was up there with Toyota and Honda in terms of reliability and value, but that's been awhile. The Renault ownership has not been good for their vehicles.

I wouldn't touch one with a CVT. Maybe if you plan to get rid of it before it hits 100k, but that would be the only scenario.

Found the cvt owner that treats it like it's made of glass.

Nissan made very reliable cars that lasted well into the 100s of thousands of miles without special treatment. Once they switched to the cvt transmissions they started taking dumps at 100k. It's not wrong to criticize that.

Our 16 year old got a 2024 Trax. I agree with the others—it’s a really nice car for the price point.

LOL. SURE, if by treating it like glass you mean actually following the manufacturer’s recommendations, then YEA.

Are they as bullet proof as the old non CVT’s? NO. Will they easily last 200k miles with actual PROPER service? YES.

Sheesh.

Why would anyone buy a brand new car????

I guess without idiots there’d be no pre owned ‘mistakes’ to take off people’s hands for half the price.

That's kind of the point. Most people don't follow manufactures schedules especially with cheap cars. Lasting 200k with regular service isn't some great feat.

Honestly the last year or so when you take all factors into consideration buying new often time is better. The post scamdemic market and how the vehicle industry is recovering has created a situation where used cars were for a long time way over priced. It definitely hasn't been how it traditionally was when a new car would rapidly depreciate in value. The market is returning to normalcy but it is not quite there yet. Deals can be found but not easy like in the past.

Kia K4 for about $24k MSRP
10 year warranty

There are options out there… you won’t look flashy though

I wish they still made small single cab pickups. IMO, those were the perfect vehicle for new drivers as my kids couldn’t fit any of their friends in them. They basically had room for the driver and a backpack.
