They still do. And I have mastered the art.

Nice. I always wanted to visit Japan. Maybe one day. I'd join the Navy but,

My grandparents were deaf. It's the first language my dad learned as a kid.

He only taught me one thing in sign language.

Eat shite and die.

I'm actually not totally deaf. I wear hearing aids. But the military didn't want my arse. Pay all these taxes and can't even play with the toys.

Nothing is worse than working a night shift and having nothing to do. I work the late shift, too. I get off at 11, but a lot of the times the last 2 or 3 hours can be sooooooo boooooooriinnnngggggg

It's fricking torture. Unless there's been a bridge deck pour, I haven't done much of shite the last month, except the equivalent of babysitting. For 12 hours a night. I could work less. But what else would I do at 4-5 am on a Tuesday? This isn't New York or Nola. Everything is dead. Might as well milk the teat.

If it weren't for the pay, I'd have already quit and moved away. Luckily, I only have a max of 1 month left. That, or if any of the jobs I applied to get in touch with me.

Wish I could smoke some weed but the weed that they do have here is shite (so I've heard) and they throw your arse in jail for a first offense arrest. They equate pot with heroin here. It comical how idiotic the Japanese are when it comes to illegal drugs

You can thank our government for that one. It's amazing that North Korea has the most progressive marijuana policy in Asia. Though they should probably rethink their meth policy.

And I have plenty of weed at home. But no matter how bored I am, that's just a no no. No matter how tempting it may be.

They don't. Back when I was a Catholic I used to do some prison ministry and meet with foreigners in the Japanese prison system. I met with a dude from Nigeria who got caught with one joint of pot at the airport as he was going through customs. He was sentenced to 18 months. It was unbelievable.

Has the thought every hit you to actually work for your paycheck? There is always work to be done, always.

I've been playing on my phone for 11.5 hours. I'm a structural inspector, and have absolutely nothing to inspect, so I just have to wait. The job is almost over.

But I also have to be on-site while the contractor is working. I've never been so bored, but I've also never gotten paid better. If I move anywhere else in the South, including Houston or the Florida Keys, I would take a paycut. Until I find a job where I want to live, I'm just thinking about the money.

So no. There isn't always something to be done.
