I have gained a better appreciation for the dangers of Ambien

My 64yo mother (no pics) took an Ambien for the first time last night and had a REALLY bad trip.

She woke up around 4am after falling in the bathroom. She had no clue she was out of bed until she hit the back of her head on the tub.

After picking herself up, she smelled something burning and proceeded to the kitchen finding her plastic dogfood container sitting on top of a burner set to High.

She also discovered a set of freshly baked brownies but no dirty dishes from cooking. We think she prepped, cooked, and cleaned all while under the influence.

But it doesn't stop there. When she found the dogfood on the burner she couldn't turn the stove off bc all of the knobs on the range were removed and missing.

She later found the knobs in a cabinet across the kitchen from the stove.

In her haste to find the knobs, she went through her trash only to find her cellphone and car keys. Thank God she did not attempt to drive.

Prior to taking the Ambien and going to bed, she had reminded herself to refill their birdfeeders in the morning. When she went out there today she discovered they were refilled with...catfood

Holy Frick I never fully appreciated the Ambien claims until now. Thank God she only has a knot on her head as this could have had a way worse outcome. I asked my dad why he didn't get up to check on her but he simply thought she couldn't sleep and decided to get out of bed.
