I’ll go against the grain a bit here and say she’s not (totally) crazy.

If she is a devoted Protestant and she believes that the Catholic worship experience and belief system is incompatible spiritually with what she believes to the point that she would be unequally yoked to you…then she would be right to say you two can’t be married.

You and I may disagree with her about the extent of that incompatibility but that doesn’t matter. It’s her line to draw.

Similarly, she shouldn’t be throwing your literature in the trash either. That’s completely out of bounds, so both of you have a valid reason to part ways IMO.

Lately, I have been feeling like the Catholic Church has been speaking to me. I have been attending a Protestant church because my fiancé likes it, I think it makes her feel safe. I sit in the chairs, thinking of Christ but I see nothing but a dark room, no windows, no crosses, just a Pastor who filmed the Church giving out meals and a car at Thanksgiving. I listen to Mass everyday in my office, I want to attend a Mass everyday at 12 during my lunch. My Fiancé has told me she and I would be over if I continued. She threw away my Mass guide from EWTN she found in my truck. I cannot convince her otherwise that this is the way to go. I truly believe this is the only way for our family but I will lose her If I proceed.

I dated a gal like that when I was much younger, the sex was great but it wasn't even close to being worth the drama of someone like that. If she's anything like the gal I dated, that pushback is just the tip of a very deep and very crazy iceberg you'll have to deal with for the entire marriage.

This didn’t happen. It’s reverse role play fantasy or something for OP.

Protestants don’t revile Catholics because they don’t view them as heretics. That boat floats the other direction.

Sex outside of marriage? You don’t have enough money or time to pay for the forgiveness the Pope demands.

If Christ is calling you to the Catholic Chuch. Follow his call. Pray on it and if God gives you an answer to follow do so. Your relationship to Christ is more important than GF.

I attended Mass with a friend of mine in Conway many years ago when I was younger, went to Catholic funerals and the such. I know my parents, who I spoke to on the way home were disappointed, they attend a MegaChurch In Conway and just never set right with me.

My beef with the Catholic church is the fact that you have to be a confirmed Catholic and have an up-to-date confession in order to receive communion. Other churches don't care who you are, they allow you to receive communion. That, and they want you to attend a year's worth of catechism classes - IN PERSON - in order to be confirmed. Like, can't I do this online?

If this is the only issue she has (and she would otherwise be fine with it), could you both just agree to not allow your kids to be with clergy/staff alone?

I know the Catholic Church has been in the news a lot, but I mean, there are creepy humans everywhere, even in Protestant and nondenominational churches.

If you let terrible people who practice a faith be the avatar for that faith, the only place to go is atheism.

That's because their communion is a symbolic piece of bread.

If it's worth it to you to receive the Holy Communion in the Catholic Church, this won't be an issue. Besides shouldn't you want to learn the truth about the Catholic Faith if you care to join it?

This is why they require what they do. Your faith shouldn't be "easy". I believe the Church feel that if you are not willing to sacrifice just this little, how are you going to take your faith serious enough to make the big sacrifices.
