Straight from a pediatrician who used it with his 3 kids:

Children's Benedryl - Ask your pharmacist for correct dose based on your baby's weight. Also very helpful for traveling

a 3 month old isn’t old enough for Benedryl.

I guarantee my grandparents never rode a kid around in a car to put them to sleep. They had 7 kids in the post depression era south Louisiana. They would have thought it absurd.

Couldn’t afford to waste gas… 1 road in the area that was paved. No such thing a car seats. Get real dude.

3 month old is still very small and can’t really pick up bad sleep habits yet - you do whatever you can to get babies to sleep 5 s / soothing techniques (google it). Survive til 5-6 months then sleep train aka cry it out when the baby is developmentally ready to sleep long chunks at night.

Both my kids slept like shite early on - the first especially was horrific. Just survive and eventually it gets better around 7-9 months..maybe sooner so long as you sleep train.

Letting babies cry it out under 5 months is neglectful - only way you should consider it is if you / wife are suffering from severe depression or sleep deprivation that is endangering yourself/others (falling asleep while driving, etc)

Have a 7 month old and we did sleep training through something called taking cara babies. It helped a ton when we learned how long a little one was supposed to be up for during the day to make sure she was getting enough naps in. Early on, we had the same over tired issues and 6pm was awful for us. She's now been sleeping through the night since about 10 weeks old. Highly recommend that course. It helped my wife and I substantially.

Yeah but there's this whole other issue with disabling your baby's histamines thing, on a daily basis just to help it sleep, I wonder what this imaginary ped has to say about that.

Is this a “my two daddies”situation? Don’t know how a grown man could talk like that.

comfortable in his boppy pillow with a comfy blanket and his favorite stuffed buzz lightyear he loves to cuddle with. I've checked all the boxes,

Sleep sack and swaddle him tight after a good warm bath.

No blankets.

Look up swaddling if you don't know how.

You can massage his feet with lotion after the bath. That should help

step one: Lay him in his bassinet step two: let him cry. It sucks, every parent hates it, but you just have to go through it. He will fall asleep eventually. Could take 30 minutes, could take 2 hours. Do this and he learns to fall asleep on his own. Don't do it, and you are fricked. PS- God Bless, it is hard. Be there for your wife, it is harder for her. ETA: Letting my son cry was as hard as quitting smoking. But it was just as rewarding

This is the way. Right when my twins turned 3 months, I told my wife to go to bed and turn off the monitor. She is too kind hearted to go through this. I slept in the room next to their nursery. They woke up and I checked on them. All was fine so I left. They cried for 1.5 hours that night. The next was 30 minutes. The third night was 5 minutes. They slept through the night ever sense.

It’s called sleep training for a reason. Either you train them, or they train you. There are no other options.

What was your go-to when it came to getting your babies to fall asleep - other than just waiting them out?

My second wouldn’t sleep for shite for months. Then slept like a baby as soon as our doctor said let her sleep in her belly if that’s the only position she’ll sleep in. She said a lot of parents basically think they’re evil people if they let the baby sleep in any manner but perfectly on their back but way more babies than you’d expect fight it.
