If you look like him enough you could take his id and go to the casino and ask for a lifetime ban

Sucks. But with your brother's personality if it wasn't a Casino it would be something else: drugs, women, other forms of gambling, etc.

Do people like you and Mingo read the obituaries so you can find funeral times for y’all to go antagonize the dead people’s families for all the deceased bad decisions?

What did I do?

I love gambling and I enjoy casinos, but I’ve seen many sad scenes in them to the point I just up and walked out.

I was at the beau one time and watched a lady take a cash advance because she drained her checking account on slots.

I have a rule that I only play table games or go to the sportsbook and have one trip to the ATM and I’m out.

It’s important to set boundaries on yourself in those places, nobody is going to stop you from handing all your money over.

Sometimes the truth sucks.

Alcoholism and gambling (and other addictions) are tied, at least somewhat, to genetics.

Good on OP for dodging that bullet and sparing his family from another disappointment.

I also used to be a lot harsher in the way I viewed addictions of all sorts before it affected my family.

Amazing how some real life experiences breeds empathy. Hope your brother gets the help he needs

If I go to a casino, I only take the amount of money that I’m willing to lose without feeling bad. No ATM visits allowed.

So you think it’s just Casinos huh? What about the institution of Walmart buying from China to introduce cheap items over American products and getting the general public swayed into “saving money?” Now try to find good American products without paying through the nose. Might not be addiction, but if you have a business? Profit is number one. Always. There’s 3 things you could make that generate wealth if you can create a great product: 1 for women, 2 for babies, 3 for the average to poor person. Not counting creating something addictive

I enjoy playing poker responsibly, not fair to deny me my entertainment because some degenerates can’t control themselves.

You have an incredibly naive outlook. You’ve clearly lived in a bubble your entire life and/or are very spoiled.

It's called a vice for a reason. I'm willing to go out on a limb and claim nearly everyone reading this has known someone who's life has been destroyed by this. I guess I'm lucky, gambling really doesn't attract me. So many damaged families.

Truth. The guy has probably never had to deal with any real adversity in his life.

Of course it is man. The internet hard asses are one of 1) fortunate to never have a loved one who strayed down a bad path, 2) just naive/self centered assholes themselves lacking empathy, 3) desperate to sound like badasses for e-cred.

There is absolutely nothing wrong feeling the way you do and I really hope your brother gets help.

I was all for legalization, but seeing now it's the only thing any of my friends talk about, it is ridiculous. Glad I live in Texas, Ill do offshore apps but limited to 20 dollars a weekend or something minimal.
