Personally, when I get pulled over, I put the car in park, roll down the window, and wait for the cop to tell me what to do.

I bought a new car recently, European. I got stopped going 80 in a 70, dealer plates intact, a few miles from the lot headed home on the freeway.

Cop approached, asked why I was speeding.

I didn't realize I was, officer. I just bought the car, I'm a bit excited, I've been driving a pile for a decade, I do apologize - hand him documentation.

His immediate response without having a clue about my spotless driving record. "Hang tight, you'll be receiving a citation for ten over." --- comes back to window, hands me ticket.

Thanks, officer. Have a nice life.

I was talking to a girl yesterday, and she said she had witnessed a drug bust or something, a few houses down from her. She said the cops threw a grenade or something in and two pitbulls came out, and the cops shot them immediately. I lol'd so hard on the inside.

Eta not about the dogs being shot but about the stereotype

Do you talk to people like this in the real world? It is totally uncalled for and simply rude. If you take this internet tough guy attitude into the real world you are eventually going to have your arse handed to you. Why act differently on here thn you would in real life?

For some reason I would be worried that he/she would come at me thinking I was going for a weapon or something.

It worked did it not? He has no idea who's driving that car or what my intentions are. The goal is to make him as un-threatened and at ease as possible. By doing everything I did, he knows

a)I am not going to drive off
b)I am not holding any sort of weapon

Yeah. I got a warning the last time I was caught speeding. Told the cop I didn't see the lower speed limit signs.

Is there some kind of prevailing belief that these things happen with regularity? They do not.

You were polite, he was friendly and gave you a warning. Everybody goes home happy

Right. But there are some here who have the attitude of "I don't care what people think I should do, I have rights and I can act however I want. I might even film it and hope he threatens me so blah blah blah".

My whole point was to illustrate that simply by not being a total douche, you can get off with a warning.

It was already out and on my lap before he even got out of his car. When he came to my window he could see that I already had it out.
