My mom used a sperm donor to get pregnant with me (she's gay and was with a woman at the time) When I was 12 she managed to find my biological father and asked him if he wanted to meet me. He said yes and we tried to set up a meeting a few times but he cancelled every time. Then I found out he died of a prescription drug OD when I was in high school

I don't really have any advice for you but I wish you the best. It would be cool if you guys form a relationship and I am sorry that count kept him out of your life when he was younger. No matter how you decide to move forward with this don't let anyone judge you for it, its totally up to you at this point and no matter what you decide it is going to be tough.

I wouldn't give two flippidy fricks about mom and step dad. That's my damn child.

I wouldn't go in guns blazing, but I would spend a good year warming the kid up to me, let step dad feel like I am not a threat, then get my damn son back.

WTF is wrong with you, do you want to frick the kid up for life? Did you even read the OP?

Maybe leave out the part about his diligent effort to have the boy killed in the womb because of laziness.

So you are basically Jon Stewart in Big Daddy? All kidding aside, props to you for wanting to be a part of the kid's life. Not an easy thing to confront, but it sounds like you have your head on straight and have the kid's best interest at heart. Best of luck.

Sorry OP, but you got a chick pregnant, and tried to get her to abort the child and now you're playing the victim? If it were up to you your son would be dead right now. Are you going to share that with him down the line when he asks why you weren't there? How does that go...."well son I told her to kill you and she swore she did but your mom is a crazy liar and kept you anyway"

Currently living with another woman doesn't show you've really turned your life around in the female department.

Besides the typical electronic toys for boys, a 10 year old wants/needs one thing the most--to feel loved. You need to do whatever you can to make him feel that. He needs to feel truly loved. Tell him and show him that you love him and are proud of him. Don't be afraid to use those words. Hug him. Kids need it and it's sad that so many do not get that from their parents.

Stability would be nice too if possible in this situation.

You need to consult with a child psychologist or you can do even more damage to this poor kid than the fricked up mom already has. Seriously

Is his name Luke? If so...Star Wars time! I say tell the truth all the way to the kid. At least he will know you are honest. When he is older, send him this link to TD.

I have no clue what to say when he asks where have I been. I also do not want to run his mother's name through the mud because I don't need him resenting her too. I feel he will do that on his own once he realizes his mother lied and kept him from meeting this really cool family he could of had.

What a narcissistic a-hole. What did you want her to say? "Here son, here's the wonderful man that didn't want you and setup the abortion appointment to kill you."

Let me give you a clue. You are obviously someone that took no responsibility for your actions 10 years ago, so she wisely didn't want you in her son's life. Fast forward 10 years and you still take no responsibility.

That dumpster fire is all your doing. No one that read your pity-party is surprised.

When you meet him, make sure to try to lift his self confidence by letting him know you wanted him less than his mom and wanted to abort him. Piece of shite.
