A recent grad that is at least 4 years away from even getting his license getting hired for a position requiring at least 10 yrs experience is not even remotely believable. Go back to being vague and subtle. This is terrible. I've lost respect for your troll game.
Well to be fair, Im not making the best end of the payment scale. Im basically working overtime to make that 5K a month. And as I have been informed, the overtime does have a limit. Adding in the fact that I dont have alot more than 2 years of experience, I can understand that I wont be one the "key players" in projects. Im essentially a greenhorn in this job.
At best, I may make about 55K per year. The people you are referring too (PE license + multiple experience) Are the ones making close to or at 6 figure salaries. I am NO WHERE CLOSE to that pay grade.

There isn't an engineer on earth who would have written, and posted, this on a message forum.

Dude an Engineer 7 should not be making 5K a month, let alone working 12+ hours a day for it. They screwing you big time.
For the typical engineer, you are right. However, I have a few things against me. Low experience and no PE. Im basically working on the lowest end of pay range.
Im not mad or upset, Im perfectly okay with it. It gives me an opportunity to work and I can always use the experience.

Damn baw. You need to get in the O&G sector. You could make double that at that level.
You could make more being an Engineer I with an EPC firm.

Good on ya. Now the real learning starts. Don't reference classes you took, or what you've learned in school, just keep your mouth shut and if you have to talk ask questions...but never the same one twice.

that's just stupid-wrong.
have you talked with other people doing that job?
you learn in project leadership courses that if your project needs that kind of time out of people for very long, they are going to get fat, burn out, turn to serious drugs. You don't get a life with those hours.

Don't go in being overzealous. Established DOTD employees don't like an overachiever. Makes the rest look bad.

Good for you man!
I know it was a struggle, you'll do fine. Just be on your toes since it's a state job it may not be the greatest pay right now but the benefits are hard to beat

Engineers aren't paid overtime at dotd.

No you're not. 7 is a section head or higher. They also make way more than that. Plus you would need your PE and you haven't been out of school long enough.

It is very weird you're starting for the first time literally a week before Christmas. Regardless, congratulations man. It' really awesome when you get your first big boy job. Just do your best and you'll do great.

Now you will see why the rest of us working chumps get so mad at Obama/Trump. You work your arse off to get a degree, put in a weeks work with people you hate, only for the gov to take a 1/3 of you cash.
