Everything moves through 4-D spacetime at the speed of light. If you're at rest you're moving through time at the speed of light and not moving through 3-D space*.
The faster you go through 3-D space the slower you go through time. When an object falls, that's actually because it's moving along the path in 4-D spacetime toward the object with large mass.
I can almost understand this.
Can you restate, but slightly dumber for those of us in the back?

I’m glad that you grasp this now OP but it’s odd and kinda sad so many in this threads are saying it’s a new revelation to them. It would be like not knowing the continents move.

You just understood the abstract to Eisenstein's General Theory of Relativity that he published in 1915.
Yep.
Einstein proved it with just a telescope basically. My memory may be off a bit on it, but it took him years to have the right situation to prove it using an eclipse and showing how a certain star was supposed to be in one place, but it wasn’t During the eclipse b/c it’s light had to bend around the sun, thus proving the sun was warping space outward from itself.

The fact that gravity does this is fascinating. If the sun explodes the earth will continue to rotate around the spot that the sun was, until the light reaches us, at which time things get suddenly really bad. There is no 8 minute and 20 second warning of - "we've stopped rotating around the sun so it's best to duck and cover".

that's a very simplistic way to illustrate the effects of gravity but that is not 'how it works'. for starters, gravity does not exist on a plane, nor is space linear.

Event Horizon gets it.Larger question is why does matter and gravity go hand in hand.If we could stop matter from creating gravity then our fuel cost would drastically decrease.

Close Mr. Wizard, but your rudimentary graphic shows the space/time distortion at the perimeter of the object. Gravity in that graphical representation should be focused on the center of mass.
