BET,
Are there any regulations or other items created by the federal government that you think should be removed in order to make trucking more efficient and better optimized for all parties?
I've heard there are fitness and health issues for truckers due to lack of time (and place) to exercise, poor availability of healthy food, etc. Do you think this is a problem and what solutions do you see for it, if so?
Should logs and restrictions on work/rest cycles remain in effect, be abolished, or be altered? If altered, how so?
Thanks

quote:when there is no traffic in right lane and you can use the left lane to turn right giving your trailer enough clearance to not hit curb or cause damage to the right when turning into a "one" lane right turn that has 1 lane and not 2. If traffic is coming in right lane and your in left lane waiting to turn right, just wait until it's clear or a good Samaritan let's you go. I can't say enough about good people out there who have let me over in tight traffic. As good drivers we can only be carefully slow and wait for clearance or a good Samaritan.
when is it acceptable to turn right from the left lane?

quote:no as I mentioned before , I am stuck in line waiting for 2 new drive tires at one of our terminals . I'm hanging out in the commons area building while they have my truck in tire shop. I stayed here for the weekend during my weekend off..this weekend im coming home Thursday thru Monday morning. Only company people here all gated and secure.
Are you answering all of these questions while driving? I’m driving behind you right now and it seems like it.

First off, I understand truckers have a hard job. But, why is it necessary to clog the left lane for 15 minutes to pass another semi doing 1 mph less than you?

How many times has a nice young lady decided to brighten your day with some titties while passing you?

I've seen more cars roll up, women get our of car parked in front of semi, go right in truck and don't come out all night. Prolly their woman or side piece.

Do you know any “good buddies”?

second question to the our resident trucker. Do you think retreads should be banned. Seems dangerous for all the normal drivers on the road

What are the disadvantages of being an owner operator? Is the equipment simply too high of a barrier to buy your own rig? Do you prefer working for an outfit over owning your own equipment?

quote:no but ive seen tit flashing, woman giving guy bj's and woman riding man while they past me or riding on side. I've seen other shite that isn't as amusing. I've seen just about every animal getting absolutely obliterated on the hwy. I've seen some pretty bad wrecks of all kinds happen right in front of me or came up on one. Pretty bad stuff.
you ever pee out the window? I would
In Atlanta a trucker once(he was a foreigner) stalled in middle lane on the 285 loop and gets out and people were veering to left and right lanes slowing down from the middle lane, he walks to the back of trailer looking under at his tandems(never do this on a busy interstate) a trucker(was probably looking at his phone) right behind him driving hits the stalled semi truck going 65mph. Kills both drivers and the trailer that semi hit from behind including the semi was incinerated just about. Even if the guy would have been in his cab stalled, he still would have died because the moving semi drove right throught he trailer into the semi cab. If you ever start to stall, roll onto the dam curb. If there isn't one, or you cant, gtfo of your truck as soon as possible when safe to do so and get off the road. It isn't your fault your truck stalls. If people cant pay attention then that's them, at least your not on the road, you got off the road.

Do you see the road differently now? Is it a zoomed out look where the interstate system is your workplace and distances don’t seem as far?
Posted on 7/22/24 at 2:42 pm to BET
Do you ever get a boner just from the vibrations of the road on your bhole? No? Yeah, me neither heh heh.

Do kids still do the "honk the horn" symbol at a passing truck? If so, do you honk the horn?
Do you drive anywhere where they have runaway truck lanes/? If so, have you ever used one?
Have you ever driven a set up with one tractor, two trailers?

I'm 64. I haven't driven since 2015 and that was in 2003-2007 trucks. I applied for a relief driving job at the company I now work at 3 years ago. We get new Ryder lease trucks every other year. I interviewed and saw the technology in our trucks and said no thanks. Unless I get a local job for farmers I'm done.
