The one thing I'll never understand are people who go to the beach for 6-9 hours at once. I go for like 90 minutes to get some tan and hang in the water with friends. I'm not going there to hang out under a tent, read an entire book, eat some pringles and just sit there all day

Low humidity, warm sun, beats the beach.

A lot of places on the west coast and in Europe have low humidity and a warm sun on their beaches, with water unbelievably clear and blue, but their sand sucks.

The gulf south beaches have the best sand, but the humidity is awful, and the water is just okay.

I enjoyed it when I was a kid. Not so much now.

I'll take mountains, snow, and ski slopes every day of the week over the beach.

Anytime I go, I sit in my chair for about 5 minutes, and the itch to throw a line in the water is just always too much for me to handle. I’d much rather go to the beach in Grand Isle, than a beach in Destin, Gulf Shores, PCB, wherever, cause the fishing sucks in all of those places. Beach was only fun for spring break when you’re in college. Other than that, seems like a big waste of time.

When you live at the beach it is not as desirable to go to. That being said it is great. Can walk over anytime of any day. I went during halftime of the game for example just to get some fresh air. Now I do need a change of seasons and that is not something that really happens so you have to find that.

Mountains have better scenery.
Crisp air, low humidity.
You can hunt, fish, hike, camp, all day and barely break a sweat.
Beats getting swampa$$ just walking to the mailbox, let alone a day at the beach.

I like the mountains as much as anyone but being uppity about it isn't the attitude us mountain folks should have.

Elevation sickness? You must mean he just gets car sick riding on the winding mountain roads, huh? Any actual “elevation” there is rather negligible in an actual feeling the effects sort of sense.

Next time try and acclimate him at a lower elevation for 1 night before getting to your final destination.

and good luck.

And I don't get people getting on cruise ships looking at water that you can't get in. The beach is the ultimate vacation, surrounded by water and at the pace you define.

You wouldn't get it, no doubt.
