I get the fascination. If the beach were my only option for spending my free time I would enjoy it. Just not my first option if there are any number of things I could be doing otherwise.

I live near a few beaches so maybe I take it for granted.

To take one out of your book, who said that?

Your the one who has to drop $10k to have fun.

I'd love to have you as a customer if I sold anything, you seemingly wear getting taken to the cleaners as a badge of honor.

Pretty much all of them.

But I don't value fancy dinners or having le crueset cookware in the place that I'm staying as I'm not going to be there.

The only $100 a plate restaurants I enjoy are steakhouses and my place to stay needs to be nice, but I don't want to spend time there anyway so all the shite they bone you on, I don't want anyway.

I went to Cabo last year and stayed in a house with a concierge who would get you hookers and blow for like $1,500. $250 flight and once your there everything is cheap because of the exchange rate.

I spent a third of what this jabroni paid to go watch beached whales waddle around on Alabama sand.

Who is the poster that said their family goes to Walmart on the first day and sticks up the condo with food and cooks every meal? Treating yourself to nice meals and different cuisine is half the enjoyment of vacation to me.

I’d rather pass on a vacation or two and put the money back for an actual vacation if it ever comes to that.

His point was, if you don't live the high life, you can't enjoy the vacation as much. In order to enjoy the beach you have to spend mega bucks. The Beach don't sound that great then..

I could understand if you're Bill Gates, but none of those here.

If you can cook, you can have that every night of your life.

In response to the beach 10K vacation. If you pick fares right can fly family of 4 to Costa Rica (and many other places in the Caribbean/Central America) for $1,500. Can get a nice 2-3 bedroom beach villa for a week for $2,000, and that might be high end. Can add a personal chef for 2 meals a day for $500-$1,000.

You could probably do every excursion you want (off-shore fishing, mountains, rainforest, scuba) for $1,000 total for the week. Add in another $1,000-$1,500 for eating out, shopping, alcohol, incidentals, etc., and that comes out to $6,000-7,000.

Nothing is wrong with the gulf coast, but value wise most folks would be better going to the Caribbean or Central American beaches, especially if kids aren't in the picture.

The beach is a great place to visit, but I would not want to live there or own a beach house.

The problem is finding a beach that is not crowded. The best way to enjoy the beach is to travel around and see the true variety of beaches that are out there. I love to swim, so my favorites are the Mediterranean beaches where the water is clear and the current is light. You can swim out quite a ways in these situations.

Live in the mountains, visit the beach.

Many people think having to cook takes much of the enjoyment out of the dining experience.

I get bored at beaches. On Pacific beaches you can still do a lot of activities like running on the beach. Or surfing (I'm goofy stance).
Thanks for the downvote you obese, fat-arse. I'd guess you're taking a statin drug.
